Being Mated to an Immortal isn’t all it’s cracked up to be however. Of course, the sex is hot and just plain amazing, but she needs more from Jake. She just hopes he’ll come to realize this before it’s too late…

2.5, Sorry, but The male character was Vulgar, from the beginning to end. I was definitely not feelign this book what so ever. I felt bad for Faye, for all the BS she went through, and how naive she was.

I had such high hopes for this book after reading the synopsis, unfortunately the book failed to deliver. I enjoy a good BDSM book, but the sexual interactions between Jake and Faye were borderline abusive. I completely disliked the main characters. Jake was abusive and Faye was a doormat. Not exactly strong characters you want to see succeed. However my biggest complaint is that there was no real emotion throughout the entire book. There was no reason for me TO like Jake and Faye. I probably could have handled the painful sex if Jake had bothered to cuddle Faye afterward rather than push her around and give her cold orders. No explanation was ever given for Jake's lack of respect towards Faye nor his seeming hurry to trick her into his life. Faye was just as bad with her refusal to stand up for herself and bland acceptance of everything that was being done to her.

The lack of world building left me wondering what all the fuss was about with these Immortals. This book could have benefited from more background explanations (what is the hierarchical structure of the Immortals, what is the hurry with claiming a mate, why are the Immortals confined, etc, etc.) and less focus on moving from one humiliating sex scene to the next. I have to agree with another reviewer about wanting to smack the majority of the characters.

All told - this is a book better skipped.

1.5 Stars...Fortunately, I purchased this through Fictionwise during one of their sales... the description of the book was great and sounded promising, the execution of the story did not work so well. There was plenty of sex so much so I mostly skimmed the the book after the first 25%...I kept hoping for more explanation about the "immortals" and the whole "First Man" and "First Woman" and why they had to mate with mortals.... but all I got was a domineering (and not in a good way) insecure "first man" whose communication skills are non-existent..and a "first woman" who kinda comes off a flake...It this was redone with a little more world building and/or background it would be a much better story.

I was a little intrigued but also equal parts confused at the start of this one. Then it was mostly sex, and the sex isn't very sexy. The 'Immortals' are just kinda strange and seem like they are on 'happy pills' a lot of the time. I suppose I'd be pretty happy too if I were immortal? There isn't much of a story and I pretty much skimmed through the last 75% of the book but kinda wished I hadn't bothered...
