Poignant, heart-wrenching stories from vulnerable, open-hearted contributors.
At my old workplace, we gave this book to people who came to us with diagnosed pregnancy anomalies. Because of the strict Texas laws surrounding abortion, many healthcare providers refuse to perform elective abortions, even if these pregnancies threaten the lives of the patient, or if the resulting child was unlikely to survive hours after birth. These providers sometimes referred patients to our clinic, or the patients would find us on their own. We counseled these grieving would-be parents, many who already had children. Although our time with them was limited, we did the best we could, and this book was part of our counseling strategy.
The words that I had in my head were more often written on the pages before me. The first hand accounts helped me to understand that I was not alone. Very good book to read if you need support in the loss of a pregnancy.
skimmed this one. surprised it was so highly rated. really hard for me to access. seems religious leaning with many god mentions from the get + the pages are very wide and difficult for my eyes to follow. the formatting was overwhelming to read at least in part because of the length of the lines on the page.
