Vizuálne nádherné, a obsahovo zaujímavé. Možno je to dakus oldskúlové, ale o to krajšie v dnešnej dobe disneyovských ilustrácií.

Hustá kniha hlavně vizuálně. Encyklopedie nemám moc v malíčku, tak nedovedu moc posoudit kvalitu a množství podaných informací, ale tahle knížka je hlavně koukací a naživo bude nádherná. A pro hledače divnověcí ideální, protože se tam dozvíte třeba o medúze Benjamina Buttona. Co myslíte, jak si asi taková medúza žije? :D

Degene die meer wil weten over eigenaardigheden over de aarde en de natuur mag deze fraaie uitgave niet missen!
Iedere pagina toont nieuwe superlatieven over onze planeet. Lees bijvoorbeeld over de grootste dinosauriërs, de diepste zeeën, het zwaarste noodweer, de langst levende dieren of over de grootste insecten.

Dit groot formaat lees- en kijkboek is gevuld met interessante feiten en is een lust voor het oog. De bladzijden van mat papier bevatten schitterende, gedetailleerde prenten die een groot deel van de bladspiegel vullen. Ze ogen enigszins vintage, maar zijn toch eigentijds. De illustraties zijn veelal ingekleurd in natuurlijke tinten, maar er zijn ook pagina’s die volledig in zwart-wit gedrukt zijn.

Om en tussen de prenten staan behalve bijschriften ook kleine blokjes tekst met informatie, soms in een kleine letter.
Dit boek is goed vertaald uit het Engels, de tekst bevat veel weetjes en cijfers. Het biedt eindeloos lees- en kijkplezier voor mensen (jong én oud) die zich graag willen verwonderen. Vanaf ca. 10 t/m 13 jaar.

Looks great, but the information is dubious and style inconsistent...

The pictures are beautiful, with a very homogenous color palette/style. But I’m disappointed that objects are not to scale with one another when they’re meant to be put to comparison. Some of the information is not accurate (e.g. on longest-living animals, greenland shark is stated to be 150 years, which is not true as they start to reproduce at 150 years and can live longer than 400 years) or the drawing true to the actual thing (e.g. sunflower starfish should have way more limbs than 5).
So I can enjoy the book for its aesthetic, but a lot of fact checking needs to be done as a non-fiction.

Ik ben zo blij dat Bibliotheek #1 deze had, ik had hem al ergens anders gezien en wilde hem graag lezen. Het is een echt prachtig boek, mooie illustraties met heerlijk veel details, leuke en korte informatie over echt van alles en nog wat. Voor ik het wist was het boek uit. Echt een aanrader!
