After sparks fly between lonely housewife Jane and the bombshell divorcee Margot, a soft spot blossoms, revealing a deeper need—to find love.
Jane is a wife and mother who's stuck in a rut. Spending too much time at the gym perfecting her physique, she learns that what she really wants is someone new to share her body with.
After Margot's divorce, she's feeling frumpy and unloved. Until one day, Jane corners her in the dressing room and makes it perfectly clear that she finds her ripe curves desirable.
Together, the couple shares the passion they thought long dead, and in doing so, discover they harbor a deeper need—to find love.
Em Petrova's Deux is one of the hottest quickie reads I've read in awhile. I'm normally not into the F/F reads, in fact this was my first one, and I have to say I'm looking forward to a continuation to that expected threesome scene.
Jane is a happily married stay at home mother who seeks a little extra spice in her life that her husband can't provide. She's secretly lusted after newly divorced Margot for awhile and decides to finally take action.
Petrova does an amazing job in creating the scene that leads up to the intimate encounter between Jane and Margot. The chemistry between the two women is sizzling, and she finds a way to keep you on the edge of your seat wondering whether or not these two ladies will be caught in the act.
I enjoyed the husbands reaction at the end, although fairly typical it provides a good set up for the next installment that I'm looking forward too.
I gave this book a B. Hard to translate into stars.
I was attracted to Deux from the blurb. The wife and mother “stuck in a rut” had me curious; I’m always wondering what “stuck in a rut” means and if it’s a good excuse to go with a long unfulfilled sexual desire for someone who’s not the partner. If it’s a lame excuse, it could be a negative factor for me.
I was also attracted to the “she’s feeling frumpy and unloved” part of Margot’s description. There’s just something nice about someone who’s feeling undesirable getting some juice, being wanted by someone. So this story looked promising to me.
Since this is such a short story, and it was pretty much all sex, there’s not much to really talk about. There’s no character development really, nor any past history to get a feel for these characters other than what’s in the blurb. However, for what it is, it’s a hot little read if you’re jonesing for a nicely written erotic f/f that will give you hotflashes.
At first I was a bit uneasy about Jane’s nonchalant attitude about what her husband will feel when he finds out about this little escapade. In the blurb, as I pointed out, Jane's bored. However, from her inner dialogue, she’s absolutely in love with her husband and they have a great and satisfying sex life. So her “rut” is more about having strong fantasies that she feels she needs to actually experience. Although she has shared these with her husband, she’s not discussed actually doing anything. So he doesn’t know.
This would have put a bad taste in my mouth if it weren’t for how the husband reacts.
Not only does it turn him on, he’s all over her and the sex they have is hotter than ever. I have admit that did mitigate for me the fact that Jane treated the whole thing as if she bought an expensive pair of shoes that they couldn’t afford and not that she had sex with someone she’s been attracted to for a while without discussing it with her husband first.
The downside for me was that I felt it would have been nice if this story was a bit more drawn out. Jane is the aggressor in the initial sex between her and Margot, but I felt that Margot just went along a little too easily for someone who’s never thought about being with a woman. There was no shock, or hesitation really. Nor much of what she was feeling in the whole thing. They sort of go from being acquaintances to naked, 0-50 without much dancing around each other. Had this whole thing been more fleshed it, this book would have really popped for me.
I also felt that the author took one of the usual short cuts in a short erotic story in that she told more than expressed feelings of love. Jane muses to herself how she has strong feelings for Margot over and above the sexual attraction, but there’s nothing there to show how that developed. So we know she has more than sexual feelings for Margot because she said it, which to me is a bit lazy in writing.
Ultimately though, I liked how this book was written even if it’s not too involved. The sex between the women is very erotic and nicely written. I could see that this is more than just one time thing to scratch and itch. The same goes for the sex between Jane and her husband. It’s clear they really enjoy each other. The husband wants in the action, but is willing to wait and let Jane have her time with Margot to let things develop first. This is one of my favorite types of reads in that way. And there is the set up for the next book in the series where the three of them do come together, which I’m going to read.

This is a first for me with F/F. I’m on a mission to discover new things in erotic books so grabbed the chance to read Deux. Let me tell you, I got a pleasant surprise. There was something wholly different about this book compared to the other eroticas I’ve read. Whether it’s because this is the way F/F is, I don’t know (I’ll have to read some more to be a better judge on that), but I enjoyed the difference big time. There was a sensuality there, a softness that stood out, and I liked that one hell of a lot.
Jane is married but wants more. I can dig that. She wants that softness I mentioned and even though she’s nervous about approaching Margot, she goes for it. I understood her nervousness. I mean, she had the worry of whether her advances were gonna be rebuffed, so her courage here made me nod and admire her. Thank God Margot was willing, otherwise Jane would have felt all kinds of embarrassed.
They get along well despite the newness of their situation, and when they go back to Jane’s house, a bit of spice is added when Jane’s husband, who usually comes home for lunch, might walk in at any minute. If he comes home for lunch he usually calls, but hell, he might not, know what I mean? That’s what I kept thinking as I read. This added tension for me as well as giving me a fascinating insight into what women do in bed together.
Frankly, it was beautiful.
Later, when Jane’s husband comes home after Margot has left, and he kisses her, he knows by the taste on her lips what she’s been up to. There’s a second or two where you’ll hold your breath wondering if he’s going to hit the damn roof, but he’s turned on, and this leads to some more hotness that was revved up because of him imagining what she’d been doing.
BEST BITS: If only Jane could bridge the gulf between idle chit-chat and asking her to sit on her face. (LOL.)
Margot inhaled sharply. Her eyes were taking on that glazed look Jane had imagined.
VERDICT: This book is seriously hot. Well, it was for me anyway. I have a feeling I’m going to get hooked on F/F now, just to grab that air of softness that filled Deux. Yeah, I enjoyed this book. Really did.
Deux by Em Petrova * I received a copy of this book from Breathless Press in exchange for an honest review*
Deux is the first book in the French Kiss Chronicles and it focuses on Jane and Margot. Even though Jane has a wonderful marriage with great sex, something is still missing. She has been having a dream for months that she wants to make a reality; she just neglects to tell her husband before she engages Margot.
Margot is gun shy of men because of her ex-husband. She is looking for something more out of life but doesn’t realize what it is until that day in the locker room. She has never thought about a female this way before but the idea is intriguing and she wants more.
The story was everything I’d hoped it would be. The scenes between the women were sensual, tender and loving. They took their time worshiping each other’s bodies and it wasn’t rushed. The emotions that they shared jumped off the page.
Jane’s husband Ethan is a very understanding man. He is secure in their relationship but knows she needs something he can’t provide her. His reaction when he found out about her affair was very hot but I still think she should’ve discussed the possibility with him prior to cornering Margot. Even though he is blindsided, he is turned on by the thought of his wife with another woman and hopes to share in this relationship at some point.
Overall I think this book was well written and can’t wait to read the next installment. I give Duex 3½ Flaming Hearts.

Let me start by saying Ms. Petrova has a gift for writing hot love scenes. I do believe my screen almost lit on fire. Her characters are likeable and believable. More importantly she tackles the issue of infidelity in such a manor that this reviewer who doesn’t usually like stories involving cheating spouses had no issues with it.
Even in the short 27 pages we are given, Em Petrova crafted a tale that was beautifully written and a pleasure to read. I for one can’t wait to read more of her work.
Margot got divorced six months ago and is feeling lonely and unloved. Jane is a married woman spending too much time at the gym watching Margot, and wanting something other than her husband's love. One day they meet at the dressing room and Jane can't stop herself. Will Margot feel the same? Talk about sexy here! This very talented author made this reviewer give another chance to lesbian romance. Deux is the first book of the French Kiss Chronicles, if you've never read anything by Em Petrova, this is a great place to start. A very promising series has started.
The sex scenes between Jane and Margot are intensely seductive and arousing. It's not just another story of young women finding they're attracted by the same sex, but these are real characters, married, divorced, with children, going to the gym, average women. When I finished reading this story, I found myself searching for more books by Petrova.
Pick up a copy of this book today and enjoy a great short story full of intense moments and of course, love. You'll be captivated and drawn in right from the very first chapter, I guarantee you won't regret.
This story is scorching right from the beginning. Jane is a stay at home mom who uses running and kick boxing to keep her in great shape. In her kick boxing class there is a lady named Margot, a new divorcee with twins and Jane is extremely attracted to her. When Jane gets a chance alone with Margot she is quick and aggressive in letting Margot know what she wants. They embark on a sizzling adventure of the carnal kind and what happens next is certainly worth reading about.
The sensuality of this book is intense.I love that this story is really about giving and taking, mutual pleasure between two women in need of a gentle touch. I also enjoyed the twist near the end of the story.
This story is hot enough to burn the pages it's written on and I highly recommend it!
(this is my review for the full trilogy) I went into this trilogy with high hopes and was not disappointed. The scenes were plentiful and steamy...and in almost any combination imaginable. Going into the first book, I knew that Jane started her affair with Margot despite being married. Jane knows that Ethan will be fine with it, but I was a bit disappointed that Jane didn't discuss her desires with Ethan until after the fact. The other negative mark for me came when Margot begins her relationship with Danny. She knows that she is not willing to give up Jane and Ethan, but she waits until after Danny has declared his love and they've slept together to tell him about her other lovers. I enjoyed this series a lot and would recommend the stories to any menage romance readers.
**contains f/f, m/f/f, m/f/f/m, and m/m situations**

A great short. Definitely ready to find out what happens next. I love the concept behind this trilogy. Happily married couple add a bit more excitement. Devils advocate enters will it drive Jane the wife to love another woman and her husband Ethan? Once Ethan becomes a part of this affair how will he feel? I like the challenges that this series represents.
My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is the sex scenes were a little light but with this being in 3 parts I can understand why but I would of liked them a little longer.
This a hot little read. Another score for Petrova!! This one is hard to talk about, as the plot has a great twist at the end, but it's too easy to give it away, so all I can say is if you like F/F erotica... get this one!
This is one smoking hot short read. Ms. Petrova created a very sweet story that managed to be very sensual at the same time. To read this review in its entirety, please visit http://www.darkdivasreviews.com/?p=5337
Great opening to the series. I loved the writhing. The connection between the two women was palpable, tangible. The sex was hot. These two women clearly belong together. I look forward to reading their evolution.
