Elvis Aaron Presley was an American singer, musician and actor. He is a cultural icon, often known as "The King of Rock 'n' Roll", or simply "The King".

Presley began his career as one of the first performers of rockabilly, an uptempo fusion of country and rhythm and blues with a strong back beat. His novel versions of existing songs, mixing "black" and "white" sounds, made him popular—and controversial—as did his uninhibited stage and television performances. He recorded songs in the rock and roll genre, with tracks like "Hound Dog" and "Jailhouse Rock" later embodying the style. Presley had a versatile voice and had unusually wide success encompassing other genres, including gospel, blues, ballads and pop. To date, he is the only performer to have been inducted into four music halls of fame.

In the 1960s, Presley made the majority of his thirty-three movies—mainly poorly reviewed musicals. In 1968, he returned to live music in a television special and thereafter performed across the U.S., notably in Las Vegas. Throughout his career, he set records for concert attendance, television ratings and recordings sales. He is one of the best-selling and most influential artists in the history of popular music. Health problems plagued Presley in later life which, coupled with a punishing tour schedule and addiction to prescription medication, led to his premature death at age 42.

I'm not a big fan of jukebox musicals, but this one is better than lots of them. I kind of liked the intricate tangled web of burning love. It was pretty funny.

This is my 4th show and it is very fun. If you are planning to do this show, be aware that this is a very music heavy show. Other than that, this musical has a wonderful story that is very fun to perform.

Basic Plot: A drifter comes to town and turns everyone's lives upside down.

This play tickled me in a way I wasn't expecting. All of the blurbs seemed to relate this play to a half-dozen or more other stories I've read before, leading me to think it would be pathetic and derivative. It IS based on Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, which does make it derivative. All the music is Elvis songs, which also made me nervous. However, as I was reading I found myself actually snickering at some of the lines. This was not the same reaciton I had as I read last year's chosen school play Sabrina Fair. I have high hopes for this show once we put it on stage. Reading musicals for me usually involves reading the dialogue and largely skipping over the songs once I've gotten the gist (especially when I'm already familiar with the song lyrics).

If you're looking for a good "read," it's really not what you're looking for. If you're looking for a show to put on, though, it's a very satisfying read, with lots of good "moments" to visualize. I think this was one of the easiest sets for me to design- I sketched as I read- and I don't really see my designs changing all that much in construction.

Set in 1955 Midwestern, USA, All Shook Up is a charming tale blending Footloose and Shakespeare's Twelveth Night bound together with the music of Elvis Presley.

Dealing with interracial or societal divides within this town, the All Shook Up Script has the availability to work with a diverse cast of characters or not. Kids and adults of most ages will enjoy the energetic musical numbers and witty interchanges between characters.

I've enjoyed reading this and preparing for my role in an upcoming production.
