I really liked this book, and thinks it teaches children lots of valuable lessons about being kind and friendly, but not letting others take advantage of you! Millie represents people who help other people, and get great pleasure from helping others, but help them at her own expense.

The story is all about a sheep called Millie, who always tries to be helpful. She is happy to let the other creatures use her wool to make nests/homes. But suddenly, Millie is out of wool and is mistaken for a goat! It then starts snowing and Millie gets very cold. Mrs Farmer takes her in and knits her a new jumper out of some left-over wool from last year. But... when Millie goes outside again, the story ends with her letting a bird take some of the wool from her jumper to build a bird nest! I think this could prompt lots of discussion with children. Should Millie let all the other creatures take the wool from her new jumper?! Will she end up giving away her whole jumper?

This story provides lots of opportunities for children to make predictions about what is going to happen next in the story. I will definitely use this with KS1 children in PSHE, free time, and put it in the reading corner.
