We: A Reimagined Family History

Rate this book
In an attempt to abstract words into something beautiful, c.vance retold his family's history in an abstracted way. Somewhere in the process the story infected words and the words became fable. Now, author finds it hard, when asked, to remember if his grandfather built bridges or something else--- or in what way his father harvested land--- or where his parents met--- or how the world ended. In some places, the words succeed in becoming something beautiful; in most places, the fable is more honest than anything that actually happened.

it came together well---
the images set a tone and rhythm throughout that compliments the prose well; the sepia-pages fit well in concept with the work... visually, it's rather remarkable.

the conceptual writing was paired down in the editing process; far more coherent... maybe not as much risk as there should be. but it is a concise telling of 212 fables relating to a family history...

if you read it, let me know what you think--- positive or negative.
