After accepting his inheritance of the Chicago Cougars, Ryne McIntyre has to fight off several challenges both outside and inside his own organization. The biggest challenge to his ownership is Melvin Morris, aka “The Collector”, who wants to add the Cougars to his collection of unique items. When Melvin's attempts to purchase the team are refused by Ryne, Melvin begins to take the team, player-by-player. Once again, Ryne has to resurrect The Machine to rescue the players and apprehend Melvin. Once Ryne is finished with Melvin, his mother has collapses, and after several tests are performed, it is discovered that she has a rare brain disease. The only doctor known to be working on a possible cure, Dr. Abraham Chandler, recently left the pharmaceutical company owned by Ryne’s best friend, Christopher Richman, after his funding had been discontinued. When it is believed he has discovered a cure, Dr. Chandler creates a serum that reanimates the dead. To raise more funds for research, Dr. Chandler, calling himself “The Zombie Father”, demands the city of Boston give him money, or he would turn the city into zombies. Desperate to save his mother, Ryne dons The Machine suit once again to save Boston and its citizens.
