Until the Knight Comes

Rate this book
Fearless and outspoken, Lady Mariota MacNichol must run for her life. Accused of murdering the unworthy rogue she once loved, she boldly takes possession of deserted Cuidrach Castle, the one place her enemies would never look. Then, the new laird of Cuidrach unexpectedly arrives.

Sir Kenneth Mackenzie is a fierce knight well experienced in bawdy pleasures and willing wenches—though his last liaison left him wounded in pride and love. Chivalrous enough to open Cuidrach's portals to a lady-in-distress, he keeps the path to his heart well-barred. But now the strong-willed Mackenzie is living with a fiery, passionate woman unafraid of his formidable reserve. Eating at the same table, warming themselves by the same fire...how long will it be before these two share the same bed?

Sue-Ellen Welfonder & Allie Mackay

Sue-Ellen MacDuffie was born and raided in Florida. She is a card-carrying Scotophile whose burning wish to make frequent (free) trips to the land of her dreams led her to a twenty year career with the airlines. Bi-lingual, she flew international all those years, working her flights as foreign language speaker. Her flying career allowed her to see the world, but it was always to Scotland that she returned.

Now a full-time writer, she’s quick to admit that she much prefers wielding a pen to pushing tea and coffee. She spent fifteen years living in Europe and used that time to explore as many castle ruins, medieval abbeys, and stone circles as possible. Anything ancient, crumbling, or lichened caught her eye. She makes annual visits to Scotland, insisting they are a necessity as each trip gives her inspiration for new books.

Proud of her own Hebridean ancestry, she belongs to two clan societies: the MacFie Clan Society and the Clan MacAlpine Society. In addition to Scotland, her greatest passions are medieval history, the paranormal, and dogs. She never watches television, loves haggis, and writes at a four-hundred-and-fifty year old desk that once stood in a Bavarian castle.

Sue-Ellen is married and currently resides with her husband and Jack Russell Terrier in Florida. Readers can learn more about her and the world of her books at: www.welfonder.com.

This is not my first Welfonder book but I got to say that I think this one has more magic elements in it. It's not a paranormal but it does have a witch of some sort in it that kind of made the book less interesting. It's really hard to say because it does have magic in it and it doesn't. Anyway, it's complicated.
I love the paragraphs of side characters, they were short but they added charm to the main story.
I was hoping for more than an almost insta love.

Lady Mariota Mac Nichol is accused of murdering her former lover and is running for her life along with her lady's maid. They take refuge in the abandoned Cuidrach Castle knowing her enemies would never look there. Unfortunately Sir Kenneth Mackenzie turns up to take possession of his castle hoping to rest but is faced with a feisty lass in distress. Unable to resist her, Sir Kenneth is doing everything she wants to restore the castle to its former glory. With that comes other feelings for each other but what will happen when Lady Mariota's enemies find her? Will Sir Kenneth turn her over to them or fight for her?

I enjoyed this book as I have other books by this author. Looking forward to more books by her!

Review:

"Until the Knight Comes" by Sue Ellen Welfonder was a good medieval historical romance with some fantasy. This novel was definitely a 'Scotland Sensually romantic' with Sir Kenneth Mackenzie was a fierce knight and Lady Mariota MacNichol comes together...both being fiery with such passion. This novel was somewhat a highlander story that was full of twist and turns that will keep you turning the pages till the end. This author does a good job in her descriptions of the sexy Scotsmen and the ladies that tame the gracious knights. As a reader you are lead to be enchanted and charmed with this read. You will find each character to be well developed and even showing the smallest details that really makes this story come alive for its reader. This novel was of two people who were afraid of the commitment of falling in love. Now, I hope I have your attention in that you will pick" up this good read of "Until the Knight Comes" to find out just what all in going on this this read. It will be a interesting read.

If you are looking for a good novel that is full of sexy Scotsmen and feisty ladies... you have come to the right place and I would recommend "Until the Knight Comes" as a charmed and enchanted good read.

Odd little Scottish romance. The main characters have both made bad choices in love, but the names were hard to keep up with and the mysticism did not feel real or totally relevant.
