Notes on Russian Cinema: General and close-ups

Rate this book
This book combines chapters on the history of Russian cinema with creative portraits of famous filmmakers (V. Abdrashitov, A. German, G. Daneliya, A. Konchalovsky, N. Mikhalkov, S. Solovyov, K. Shakhnazarov), with a detailed analysis of specific films of different times, themes and genres. The monograph also examines the problems of mass screen why do many (though by no means all) entertaining media texts have such terrific success with their audiences? Is it not because their authors are responding to the real, worthy of respect and study, needs of the public, and above all, of young people? A significant part of the book is devoted to the activities of the youth film club, describing the typology of perception of cinema by schoolchildren and students. The publication is intended for students of the humanities, teachers, university professors, and a wide audience interested in the past and present of Russian cinematography.
