From obscurity to renown, the Magdalene Secrets revealed. For over two thousand years the life of Mary Magdalene has been maligned in some quarters with the truth of her life being suppressed. Author Bettye Johnson brings to light the many missing fragments regarding the life of Mary Magdalene. Based upon years of research, Johnson weaves a story of suspense, mystery, adventure, abduction and romance. Moving from the present day across time to two thousand years ago, the mystery unfolds with a most unlikely quartet coming together. Two American women, one a research lawyer and the other a teacher on sabbatical, while hiking in the Pyrenees Mountains of southern France, discover by accident an unknown cave containing never before discovered scrolls written by Mary Magdalene herself. Not wanting the scrolls to be hidden away for years as others have been, the two women pair up with a rich American businessman and a disillusioned French priest with a mission to get the scrolls translated and given to the world. At last, the tale of Mary Magdalene with her connection to the Black Madonna, her childhood, her education, her relationship with Jesus, her mission and her spirituality is made known with its many twists and surprises. The reader's interest is riveted with anticipation for the next page from beginning to the end with its passion, intrigue and spiritual insights. Definitely a page-turner thriller that is powerful to its surprising climax.
I was really curious about this book. I was so excited when it came and I could start reading it.
I’ve grown very curious about Mary Magdalene. I didn’t even know she existed until a few years ago. I can’t understand how someone that was in a relationship with Jesus is not easily accessible.
I applaud Dan Brown’s book The DaVinci Code came out. I believe that book!! I believe this book!!! I’ve thought churches were thieves my whole life. Don’t even get me started on Priests molesting children. These are supposed to be honorable, Holy men. Not pedophiles. And nowadays the latter seems to be more true.
This book was a breath of fresh air. I truly hope there are scrolls someone will find that will one day be brought to life from Mary Magdalene. Surprisingly I doubt they’d ever see the light of day even if they did but you know what. I’m going to make her a part of my truth. She, Yeshua, James and Sarah. May peace and love find you wherever you may be.
The only thing that detracted from the book for me was the “oh gawd”. Didn’t like that in there at all. Tried to skip right over it if I could.
I found the story feasible. This is something that very well could happen. People make scientific discoveries all the time.
Great book. Highly recommend.
Favorite quotes/moments :
“As we sat at the table, I asked him what he thought The Magdalene’s primary message was.” “Hmmm, what I can surmise from what has been translated thus far, I would say her message is to be careful of what we think because our thoughts could manifest as illnesses and a life full of problems. And you?” “Could it be our emotions send messages to our bodies, and emotions are triggered by what we think? According to what I understand, our cells can be broken down into the atomic structure and to the very tiny which is quantum physics. If our thoughts work on frequencies, then our thoughts can keep the body healthy; or, if we harbor unloving thoughts towards ourselves and others, the cells break down into illnesses.”
