“Couldn’t wait to get my hands on it...not just a good art book. It’s a classic tome of artwork. There is treat upon treat, lavished with praise by a lot of contemporary artists, who share many readers’ delight in what Walotsky has accomplished over the years. Those funky posters from the 1960s...Many reproductions here from a long career, spanning many book covers, magazine appearances, some real fine treats.”— True Review.
And so I find myself presented with another missing title from Papertiger publications. And what chaos did it cause me.
However the book is in perfect condition and contains some amazing pieces. I will admit that I am not familiar with Ron Walotsky and his work (although after pouring over this book I would like to think that I am trying to correct that imbalance).
However the reason for the chaos was that I have long since had a list of titles from Papertiger which i have been working to - you can imagine (its not worth it) my dismay when I discover a title which was not on that list. I had to investigate and of course discovered that the book list I have been working to is totally incorrect.
Well thats a problem for me to deal with (and no doubt reassess my collection) However the book itself is amazing. The variety and range of Mr Walotsky is amazing and although I do not recognise any of his pieces I feel a level of familiarity that says I am sure I have crossed his work before.
However there are many pieces which were not from book covers and the like and they for me are the most striking. It just goes to show that even though my started my introduction to these books through science fiction book covers (thank you Mr Foss) there is so much more to discover out there.
