Well, what a catchy title, Serena Star-Leonard had me at the opening.  And her book was packed with ideas and a few examples of how to use the web to generate income.  A lot of it won’t be new to you, internet-savvy people out there.  However, I really liked all the information being in one place for easy reference and plan to keep my copy close at hand.

As well as talking about the practicalities of creating a web business and making money online, Serena also talked about how to create and manage your success mindset, which I thought was a completely invaluable (& often overlooked) part of the whole journey she was guiding you through.

This book does live up to it’s title and shows you how to retire in 12 months, as long as you have the passion for what you do and follow some of the ideas and tools she talks about in this book in your own way.  I recommend at least browsing through it and perhaps precipitating your own “good-life crisis” to live a more fufulling life.  I certainly liked the re-frame of what I’m going through as a “good-life crisis” and a very positive thing – thanks Serena, I felt a whole lot better after reading your book & ready to rock the business ahead!

Mum pushed this into my hands after I told her about the blogs I'm running.

Essentially this book details the background work someone needs to do in order to monetise a blog. It was well structured and clear, although as a web developer since the 1990s there was nothing new in here for me. Serena and I clearly already read the same websites ;-) However, if you don't have a lot of experience with running websites, this book gives a nice, solid, non-technical breakdown of the knowledge you'll need to accrue in order to run a successful blog.

One thing I don't remember being mentioned is that blogs are certainly not a get-rich-quick scheme by any stretch of the imagination. Most blogs do not start to turn a profit until they've been running several years. So take this "retire in 12 months" thing with a grain of salt, but as long as you don't set yourself unrealistic expectations about the time and effort involved, then this book is a good way to get started.

Not a bad book. I tried to access the author's 'website but the domain appears to be 'for sale'. I guess she unretired? Besides this glitch there are valuable resources and good information. It boils down to getting started

This particular title has a fantastic title, I was interested straight away. I wanted to know what this book was about. So, I picked it up from the display and took it home with me.

This book is a mix between business coaching, business start up and passion finding. Ultimately it is not about retirement, but is more about finding your passion and leaving your job to create something that becomes your lifestyle. It is not about leaving your job, to start a business and then creating a job for yourself.

There is a focus on online business, and how the internet has produced a pathway for people to develop an income. There are helpful tips throughout, with a case study that exemplifies the content being written, this gives the theory context. This is a great way to guide the reader through the book.

It is written in a language that is beneficial for the reader, as it is easy to understand plus follow, the book itself is not overly long in content, subject or packed with endless advice that is overwhelming and there are also practical exercises.

Overall it is a good book if you are looking to change careers, or you find that your current job is a struggle that you contend with daily. Read this book you have nothing to loose and could possibly gain a new perspective and purpose.
