The first and only novel (Nade, 1998) on Bangladesh by Ketil Bjornstad, the great Norwegian author and internally acclaimed composer. Anis Pervez, a poet, professor, and a native of Bangladesh, has translated this work from Norwegian into Bengali. Both the original work and the translation are exceedingly superb, and deserve wide readership among those who are interested in the emergent global literature that challenges our taken-for-granted literary categories and immutable mind-set, and canonically inclined intellectual make-up.
