A perfect introduction to CHTHONIC's Souls Resposed series. The most impressive part is their attempt to present the Taiwanese dialogues in Taiwanese Taigi. It may not be as accessible as all-Mandarin content. Reading them out loud in Taiwanese will be a more efficient way to understand the dialogues. Moreover, it allows readers to better relate to the characters’ perspectives and become more deeply immersed in the story.
The title, Day 578 After the War, refers to the days from the Surrender of Japan in World War II on 15th Aug. 1945, to the disbandment of the 27 Brigade on 17th Mar. 1947—a total of 578 days. (The 27 Brigade was a guerrilla force formed in central Taiwan, shortly after the outbreak of the 228 Massacre on 28th Feb. 1947. They launched armed resistance against the Kuomintang but were ultimately defeated in the Battle of Wuniulan.)
