Lela finally gets a moment alone with hunky single dad Joseph and what should happen? A knock at the door. Of. Course. A man claims to be their dead father’s hereto unknown brother. Erm, what? Not even Bertha knew about this guy, so the twins dive into family research, both mundane and magical. It would be cool to have an uncle, but what if he’s a swindler? Unfortunately, magical family research isn’t as simple as it sounds. In the process of verifying their new possible uncle’s identity, Lela and Mae unleash something dark and deadly on Wears Valley. It's not all bad, though. Ted and Mae grow closer every day, and Joseph has been so helpful with the new drama. Plus, little Eleanor is a delight and Lela is smitten with the girl. On top of everything else, they still need to learn more about the coins, break the curse on the cauldron, and send Florie to her peace. None of which will be simple. All in a day’s work for a granny witch.
L.A. Boruff lives in East Tennessee with her husband, three children, and an ever growing number of cats. She loves reading, watching TV, and procrastinating by browsing Facebook. L.A.’s passions include vampires, food, and listening to heavy metal music. She once won a Harry Potter trivia contest based on the books, and lost one based on the movies. She has two bands on her bucket list that she still hasn’t seen: AC/DC and Alice Cooper. Feel free to send tickets.
With every new secret about their family Lela and Mae learn, it kind of seems to only generate even more questions. But, discovering more granny witches can only be a good thing, right? From ancient curses, to vengeful spirits, to happily for now, the twins more than have their work cut out for them. but I’m already perched on the edge of my seat, anxious to find out what their discoveries about their ancestors’ past is going to mean for their future. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
This is book four of the Wears Valley Witches series and twins Lela and Mae are still getting used to their new magical life. The local coven of granny witches is still growing slowly and seems to have settled down somewhat. Their only relation is the somewhat eccentric Bertha, their mother’s sister that is until a man who looks to be in his sixties, turns up at their door. Just as Lela was finally getting some alone time with single dad Joseph, whilst his daughter is away for the night at a sleepover. The man says he is their half uncle ad he didn’t know who he actually was until recently having been brought up by what he thought of as his foster parents. Landon has grown up daughter Christina, who is about the twins’ age and even a granddaughter. He was only told on the deathbed of his last parent, who he really was. He did some research and found out about his brother and came to find his children. Initially the twins wonder how he could be their half uncle if he is younger than their father, but it turns out he was actually the older brother and his mother was forced to give him up at the time! He arranges to come back the next day and they call Bertha over to discuss matters. They find a spell to try and call the spirit of an ancestor to find out some answers and this gives them a clue to their ancestor’s former home, which was burnt to the ground ages ago.
A magical broom with a mind of its own is used to locate the exact position of the house, now overgrown, and to whatever had been hidden there. They find an old journal of their ancestor and also an old storage area with lots of jars and bottles, possibly used in spells. They collect everything and take it all home, including an old grimoire. They decide to get some assistance from the coven members, but when one of them opens a glass bottle, an angry spirit of a witch is released which will commence causing them issues around town almost immediately. Whilst dealing with working out how to bottle up this angry witch spirit, they also have the issue of the spirit still locked in their cauldron, who has asked for them to break the curse holding her there for some time now. As well as all that, they are getting calls about things going wrong in their former home, which they had rented out until they decided where they would be staying. Everything should have been going to the agent they hired to manage such issues! Lots of romance going on with Ted and Mae continuing as usual, but also with Joseph and his young daughter Eleanor who adores Lela, going on some actual dates and a few kisses at long last! They need to research their magical family roots and meeting Landon’s daughter, adds another granny witch to the list. Her powers have creeped up slowly and neither she nor her father knew anything about magic before meeting the twins!
As well as the broom which seems to be linked to another overseas, they have the spirit of Florrie locked in their cauldron and the cursed gold coins that they dare not spend. It turns out Florrie isn’t the only spirit locked in the cauldron, as all those who tried to spend the gold coins, whether they were part of the family or not, have been cursed! The main problem is the angry witch spirit who is causing lots of trouble around town, and they have the whole coven looking into finding a way to stop her. Their recently acquired grimoire has a lot of spells not even Bertha has knowledge of, but it gives them a chance to find something that might work with their troublesome spirit and even Florrie. Bertha and her moonshine still make an impact on the story, but Eleanor and her wonder at the zoo was brilliant, with Lela’s animal connections bringing amazement at every turn. Lots of fun happening throughout, but with a few dangers chucked in there for the twins and even their local town. The angry witch seemed to have a lot more powers than any of the other witches, including the twins who supposedly had all of the magic from the mountain originally, causing all sorts of magical events. The twins could almost have come a cropper if not for their new cousin giving them a warning. Thank goodness for more family! I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Can I just first say how much I've enjoyed these four books about these magical twin sisters who only discovered they are hereditary witches in their midlives? The sisters are so different but complementary, and despite their differences, their bond as sisters is powerful and such a pleasure to watch. This book continues with some of the mysteries of the previous books and adds to them. The book opens with them meeting a long-lost unknown relative and leads them to search deeper into their family background to puzzle out the mystery of how precisely he belongs and why. But their findings stir up something more profound and darker. This book continues to follow the mysteries of the coins they discovered a few books ago, and they're trying to help Florie find her final rest, a ghost who only haunts their cauldron. And we get to see more of the romances these twin sisters have with the professor and his brother. Both are great guys who are wonderful matches for their respective ladies. I'm not sure where these talented authors would take us next with these sisters, but I can hardly wait to find out!
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
This is Book 4 in the Wears Valley Witches series, continuing the story of Lela, Mae, Bertha, and other characters. They meet their father's relative, Landon Dixon, thanks to DNA matching. They have an unexpected uncle, and also meet his daughter, Christina, their cousin. Now they want to know who were his parents and why didn’t they know of him. So they call the ghost of his parents and are directed to the cemetery at Cades Cove. They find two books and a lot of old jars. The journal has the story of Alice and her baby; hopefully, the other book has useful spells or recipes. At a coven meeting to discuss their discovery, a witch’s spirit, old, angry, and quite powerful, is accidentally released. This causes problems around town as the witch releases her pent-up anger. Lela gets closer to Joseph and Eleanor, and Mae gets closer to Ted. They celebrate Bertha’s 92nd birthday with the coven and devise a plan to send the witch on to her final rest. Lots of warmth, love, companionship, and mutual support in this cozy witch story. There is an interesting development at the end that will have us eagerly awaiting the next book.
When a man shows up claiming to be their uncle, our heroines don't know how to take that. This is going to take some time to adjust to, not to mention a bit of research. Now, as long as nothing else crops up in the meantime, everything will be fine...
This is book four of the series, but it is written as a standalone. Feel free to jump in at any time.
This is a cozy witch mystery, which is always fun. The story is well written and easy to read with a well developed setting and solid characters. I like our sisters and it was fun watching them explore their powers, and apparently their extended family. There was also a nice bit of humor throughout the story, which just added to the fun. Overall, it was very enjoyable and I look forward to seeing what comes next for our heroines.
Highly recommended.

I am really enjoying this series of books and not really stand alone read as books end on a cliff hangar to be taken up at beginning of next book at same spot last book left so you may be bit lost, but go for it and if you enjoy read the background story and read next book if ending is intriguing and wanting to read more as that is what these books do for me, can't wait for next stage of the twins life adventures. With each book we take journey into life and romance of both twins as they continually come to grips with their magic and lovely ensemble of characters that compliment the storyline and create lovely cozy fun magical adventures. Lovely books to read and escape into magical mystery world of these wonderful fun twins.

Witches Lela and Mae may be reconnecting with an uncle they never knew they had. The man arrives at their door and claims to be their dead father’s brother, Landon Dixon. If he is speaking the truth, his daughter Christina, would be their cousin. The search into their family history to verify this kind of opens a “can of worms” on the magical side and they may have unleashed something nasty and angry on Wears Valley. On the bright side, Ted and Mae continue to get more comfortable together, and it seems the same is going on with Lela and Joseph. There are a few other things to be taken care of on their list, none of them easy of course, but they can certainly deal with it… maybe.
Quick and easy read that’s entertaining. My reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because of a few inconsistencies. Mostly small and not distracting, there was one glaring inconsistency that almost made me stop reading. In the previous book in the series, there was an off the page character that died during childbirth of preeclampsia. In this book, that same character died in a car accident when her baby was 2 years old. I considered not finishing because of that but continued to read because of the overall entertaining storyline. It does end in a cliffhanger but the next book is already released so I guess I’ll continue reading.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Family research can be dangerous especially involving magic. Lela and Mae get a new uncle that no one knew about. The search into their family history to verify this finds two journals and unfortunately a witch spirit that has to be taken care of. In the end they are successful and have new family members. However their other search to help Florie may have opened a can of worms.
Lela and Mae are back in book four of the Wears Valley Witches series and they are connecting with more family and finding out more about themselves along the way. This is a well written paranormal mystery with quirky characters, magic, danger, secrets, and humor, and an ending that left me ready for the next book and finding out how Lela and Mae's story ends. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Clash of Twins is book #4 in the Wears Valley Witches series by LA Boruff and Lorraine Cooke.
This was a fun read. Great characters, plenty of humor, a bit of romance, and magic all make this an entertaining story. Lela and Mae have so much going on with a cursed caldron, a surprise uncle, stubborn broom, a trapped ghost, and a surprise party to plan, and so much more. I can’t wait for the next book!

A long lost relative shows up and off they go to research. But things never are simple for the twins and craziness occurs that kept me giggling to the end. Had to see what silliness and magic craziness this group of trouble makers would face this time. What secrets might be unveiled this time around too.
I'm really enjoying these twin books they have great plots and the characters are believable and I care about them , just a small thing but I thought Josephs wife died of pre-eclampsia that's what my box set said then this book said a car crash maybe I got it wrong but it took nothing from the story I still enjoyed it ,a well deserved 5 stars
Wow! I really like this series, and this book does not dissapoint! But at the same time I feel like it’s a lot of fluff and that it’s rushed. So it’s going to be exciting to see how this will progress further on in the series.
It's nice to read a book that doesn't have someone dying. The characters are pleasant and compete like sisters do. The plot is easily followed, and the story is quite enjoyable. I do recommend this book
As Mae and Lela’s powers get stronger, the challenges facing them get tougher. It is fun to read about how they grow and discover their abilities! I am looking forward to finding out about the twist in their quest to break Florie’s curse. I enjoy reading this series immediately!
Really enjoyed reading this heartwarming and laugh out loud fun small town magical adventure. Highly entertaining, sweet, fun, emotionally thrilling adventure filled with intriguing charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists and memorable magical moments.
I love the twin witch dynamic with this series, it is highly entertaining with showing the bonds of sisters along with the humor and frustration that comes with it.
