Cyborg Doms - Fane
Fane Jacobs, or 636, is a genetically and robotically enhanced human, trapped on Terros 9 in 3010 with a psychopathic owner, Gryd. His duty is to entertain Gryd's guests with his skill with the whip and his twin cocks. Denied satisfaction, his dreams are filled with the image of a sweet sub. Cyborgs have no rights on Terros 9. After his friend, Jace, is pack-raped by a group of male guests, Fane and Jace steal a starship, and travel back in time to Earth in 2040. Essentially the same storyline as Master Me with some changes here and there so this review will be of the compare and contrast variety.
Let's break this down into parts for said comparison, shall we?
Story: In Cyborg Doms it's a wormhole rather than a water vortex and we travel back in time to Earth instead of forward to a fantasy realm. The story in Cyborg Doms is more involved and is probably better constructed overall, but I enjoyed the cheekiness of Master Me that I didn't find here. There were parts of this one that didn't make sense. Why would 2 sex slaves be sent to acquire more sex slaves? I couldn't say whether or not I'd have liked this one more if I hadn't just read Master Me, but what's done is done. The fact that the author's using the same basic template for a story arc tanks her creativity in my book and results in 3 Stars for this category.
Kink/Sexy Times: Both Fane and Jace are dominants, but their idea of dominance came off as amateurish and superficial. For example: "Brutal is too nice a word for them, sadists more like." Uh, what? The sex was titillating at times, repetitive at others, but I'm pissed that Fane has two cocks and they NEVER get used. WTH? 2 Stars for yanking my chain.
Relationship: Yet again I'm turned off by the M/F contrived conflict plot device. Things were going so well and then she got 16 different kinds of butt hurt over NOTHING! So annoying. Why do women have to consistently be portraying as overly emotional nitwits? So few authors portray female protagonists as strong and not ice queens. Then again according to Cyborg Doms women are to be "protected" and shouldn't "have to" work. That way they can focus on passing along their knowledge to their young. I feel like I stepped back into the 1950s rather than the 2040s. Plus, I feel like Jace got shuttled off to the side once they left Terros 9 which I had a hard time reconciling considering what happened to him there and his long standing relationship with Fane. 1 Star for one lame relationship and shuttling an entire character and his relationship to the back burner.
Sci-Fi/Worldbuilding Aspects: I don't understand how Fane and Jace overrode the AI aspects of their programming nor how they fooled everyone into believing that everything was business as usual. How did that slip past someone as controlling as Gyrd? I have absolutely no clue how one would "hide" a second cock and, seriously, why would you want to? World building very much uses the same or similar lingo as used in Master Me, and we're back to the creativity issue. 2 Stars here.
Writing: Again, in desperate need of an edit, names are misspelled repeatedly. Dialogue was stilted. Both Fane and Jace are described much the same as Ashrin and Draigah in body type and special carnal powers. In my estimation, Cyborg Doms is taking itself more seriously than Master Me thereby forcing me to do the same and I found I enjoyed it less. 2 Stars here.
So, 10/5=2 Stars overall.
Like I said earlier in the review, if I hadn't read Master Me just prior to this things could've turned out a lot differently, so take this review with that grain of salt.

I really enjoyed this series debut. I do hope to read more about each Dom in their story. HC Brown is a great story teller. My full review is listed at www.theromancereviews.com
