Settling into his new life, Detective Chief Inspector Harry McNeil is being kept busy, but life is going to become a lot busier.
The body of an MSP has been found slaughtered in an empty house in Edinburgh. But this is no ordinary crime scene. It’s one that Harry McNeil thinks he’s seen before. Down to the last detail, including the position of the bodies.
As they start the hunt, they’re looking for a killer who seems to know far too much detail of what goes on behind the scenes at a kill site. Somebody who doesn’t want to stop.
Then Harry recollects where he saw this crime scene before.
This killer is copying murder scenes from the past. But the past is very much going to catch up with the present…
John Carson is the author of the DI Frank Miller detective series. He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and lived there most of his life. In 2006, he emigrated to New York State with his American wife and two daughters. They now live in a small town in the Hudson Valley where his wife was brought up, with a German Shepherd, a Beagle mix and four cats.
Did not finish. Too many police officers in too many different stations, mainly trash talking with very little getting accomplished. I just didn’t like any of the characters and decided not to spend any more time with them. So many books out there, too little time.
This is book #17. It doesn’t seem possible. I think this one is the best one yet! Harry and team have a cold case to solve. There are twists and turns to keep you guessing. The finale was an exciting race to stop a killer. I highly recommend this book.
Another great book from this author loved to read about dci Harry McNeil and all the gang. I liked the new characters as well and hope they will be back. Can't wait for next one.
It was an easy read, and I liked the storyline overall. Once it all came together, it felt a bit rushed at the end, but don't let this put you off. Feels immersive in parts, and I felt part of the team at times, which I really like. Worth a read.
Great to see Harry and the gang back together again, lots of action, lots of laughs, great storyline. All as usual in never been disappointed looking forward to the next in series.
This one was good. I like the Alex character a lot though it was unbelievable what happened there. The reoccuring crime scene was an interesting plot twist. I was glad to see some of the action takes place in Orkney.
Another good story in the Harry McNeil series with all the usual characters.plenty of action and travel in this one and a good storyline.Looking forward to reading more.?
I stuck with but it felt confusing with all the characters. Came together and wrapped upnrather quickly at the end. Some of the dialogue felt like it should have been a TV show as it was very hard to following along in the written word and would have made more sense in visual situation.
Love the different story lines that brought everything together
The characters are always exciting in this series. There are a lot of back stories that are so interesting and how the author brings it back to present. A great read.
Good story spoiled by some careless mistakes and inconsistencies, in particular changing one of the victim's names with no explanation. The author needs a better proof reader and editor.
