Parents often ask me, "What can I do to help my child be successful at school. This book has the answers. It also has great lists of what to expect of children at different ages pre-K to third grade. I have decided that a copy of this book, and the video, "Ten Things Every Child Needs" should be in the diaper bag as parents leave the hospital with their newborn child.

As I'm expecting, I've made it a point to seek out some parenting books. I love reading of course and want to share that passion with my kiddo. I appreciated that this book includes useful activities and pointers for helping little ones get excited about reading early on.

There were sections of this book primarily geared more towards educators and administrators in the school system, but I did find lots of useful information as a homeschooling mom of young children. In particular, I found valuable the sections on activities and practices for the different grade levels as well as expected accomplishments at each level.

Good book to learn how to promote reading in young children. The book is divided into sections by age. It includes a lot of suggested games to play with children and books, and even softwares that are beneficial to children's reading skills.
