Surfer Bride was provided to me complimentary for review. Having never read anything by Ms. Chantal I wasn't sure what to expect. Well, needless to say I was completely blown away, absolutely loved it! Surfer Bride is a romance novel but it's also much more than Romance. When I think of "romance" books, I think of the old bodice ripping, no real story line but that was not the case with Surfer Bride. This book is perfect if your looking a read that has it all, romance, intrigue, humor and suspense. Several times while I was reading it, my 12 year old had to ask if I was okay because I found myself chuckling out loud due to the conversations between Quincy & Finn, and Quincy & Avery, her best friend. The story focuses on Quincy a professional surfer, Percy Hicks, her antique dealing fiance and Finn Smith, former Miami Detective and her ex-boyfriend. With surfing, antiques, gun running and love, this is the perfect read for a lazy afternoon or quiet evening.

Quincy’s story had me hooked from the very first page. Making the heroine a champion surfer really gave this story a unique spin. Quincy is an interesting, attractive and strong character who has more than her share of troubles and has more to come. Finn is less likable at first. He is a bit too arrogant, and I really liked how Avery defended Quincy from him, she is a great best friend. The settings vary and really enhance each part of the story. The author’s skill at describing scenes and people is really extraordinary. The scenes in Bali will have you at the edge of your seat, and they are nothing in comparison to the suspense in London. This story is definitely much more than a surfer’s travelogue with a story, and I loved it.

I picked this book up because I loved the title and it didn't disappoint. Quincy Holt is a champion surfer and Ms. Chantal made me feel I was out on the water with her. Even out of the surf, Quincy acts with a surfer's code. She knows what's right and what's not right and no one is going to keep her from bringing down one of those "wrongs". One man tries. He's rescued her once already, but there's a world of hurt between these two. The tension is palpable and believable. The story kept me turning page after page after page. And the ending is...well, I don't want to give it away, but I think Ms. Chantal nailed the perfect ending to this story. :)
