A very substantial collection of oral histories (including that of my great-uncle Ralph) along with essential background of the Aleppo community before the Syrian diaspora really began. The book could use better cross references and a convention guide, but all in all an enjoyable read. It makes me nostalgic for a community I never belonged to.

An amazing and detailed picture of a Jewish community that survived for millennia but has now been entirely wiped out.

It gave me some great insights and background for a book I’ve begun writing about my Shama great-grandparents from Aleppo.
