Review: I have to admit this story was much better than the author’s previous works. The addition of pictures was a plus and the story much more original. There are a host of characters in “Passageway” including some pretty interesting run-ins with zombies and werewolves.
This was a truly interesting expedition with some equally interesting backdrop.
Synopsis: When an archeological dig goes horribly wrong, the team is trapped in an alternate world where evil awaits them at every turn. Find out who will survive the Passageway! From the author of supernatural vampire thriller "Darkened Hills" comes, an unforgettable tale that spans four continents and takes the reader to the very realm of Hell itself. Skeleton warriors, zombies, other undead beings and werewolves are all very real inside the Passageway! Part H.P. Lovecraft and part Indiana Jones, this deadly tale will keep you guessing and wondering which path to take. Passageway will leave you breathless to the end!
To begin, ‘Passageway’ has a most simple but attractive book cover that makes you feel drawn forward and into the book in search of adventure. And an adventure it was! I am a huge fan of apocalyptic places and did not expect to be taken into another world with such vivid imagery of destruction and decay. Being that I am drawn to dystopian worlds for their lack of life and usually astounding circumstances as well as the feeling of being trapped and of hopelessness, this was a great read for me. This was a hard book to put down, as there were many exciting scenes that made me want to continue the journey to the very end.
Although it starts out with the entombing suspense typical of H.P. Lovecraft and descends into the Indiana Jones feeling, I also felt a bit of DaVinci code trailblazing, but without the religious decoding. There were some really unexpected twists and turns too, intertwining modern horror trends with age-old ones. At a few points, the editor probably could have stood to be a bit heavier handed with grammar, but all in all this does not take away from my opinion that this is a book that will keep you intrigued to the very end!
I've just finished reading the Passageway, and I have to say it was another example of Gary Vincent's rapid writing style which makes for an engrosing read without a lot of heavy narrative overhead. The language is aptly used to keep the reader moving through the story at a breakneck pace. From the hills of West Virginia, to South America, Spain, Russia, and even the land of the dead the locals are both breathtaking, and globe trotting. The characters are well suited to the story, and come with their own interesting twists and surprises as well.
The mix of suspence, action, and horror is a delicious blend which satisfies in an odd but tasty mix of Indiana Jones and H.P. Lovecraft. Part archaeological thriller and part eldrich horror the Passageway is sure to please fans of either genre. If you like a quick paced read for busy people who want to jump right into the heart of the story without a lot of descriptive foot dragging, then the Passageway comes highly recommended by me.

Lots of action! Werewolves, an alternate plane of existence and adventure! Woo Hoo! Gary's book didn't take me very long to get through but it was because I had a hard time putting it down. There was so much action going on that I wanted to know what comes next until I was done reading the entire book.
