This is the first volume I’ve enjoyed in this series in quite a while. As far as endings go, I did like how everything was wrapped up well. It was nice to see Ryoko and Ryu get their happily ever after and be in a stable place in their relationship. I would’ve loved this finale more if I hadn’t been bogged down by previous things that had gone down. Basically, everything after Ryu ran off to his aunt’s house was horrible. All it would’ve taken was the post-breakup drama being removed/dealt with differently and then connected to the conclusion here and I would have absolutely loved this series.
Although, I'm not quite sure I like Ryu as a character I admit he has grown up a lot in this novel. I think that he made the right choice in waiting to propose until he was comfortable that he would have a steady income. Sure maybe five years is a long time, but I think he's grown up now and will take care of Ryoko. Especially with the pregnancy scare which boosted my confidence in him even more.
I was so glad to see that Shu and Yuki were together. I did like the mini chapter on those two and I think it'd be kinda cool to do a mini series on those to. I never noticed but, Yuki is a lot like Ryoko and although I kind of found Shu annoying I think he and Yuki would work well together as neither of them hold back any punches.
I was a bit surprised to see Asuka and Shirai get married. They didn't really show the development of the relationship between those two, which I think would have been nice rather than the focus to just be on Ryoko and Ryu.
Poor Kurama is still single. He seems like a nice dude, I'm sure he'll find someone.
This is a great manga series. I know people have ribbed it a lot for it's cliches, but really most manga out there is cliches. I personally think this is one of the best drama series I have read. I really felt for Ryoko throughout the whole book and even identified with Ryu in certain ways. I'm sad that the series is over, but am glad that it ended like this. I bawled like a baby near the last few books.
And with this volume, I have read all of "B.O.D.Y." by Ao Mimori - most of it in the past couple days. I really liked this series, more than I expected to. It dragged a bit, with the whole break up and getting back together, but the end redeemed it for me.
It's weird, but I kept thinking of "Hot Gimmick" when I was reading this series. Which is weird because Fuji is so much more of a good guy than Ryoki (who had his moments, but he is mostly a controlling jerk).
I will say I did enjoy the first volumes more, but the series as a whole was pretty good, and I can definitely see myself re-reading it in the future.
Finally got to fulfill my teenage fantasy of reading the end of this series after it ceased publication in the US. But it ends on another cliffhanger, wtf??!!
