Draws on official government documents, political commentaries, speeches, and other writings to examine events leading up to the Persian Gulf War, the battle to free Kuwait, and the impact of the war on the Middle East and on world politics
I used this book as one of my primary resources for a senior thesis to earn my degree in History. The information in this book is well documented and is quite an eye opener on what the real situation in the middle east is. It refers of course to the FIRST Gulf War, however the events are extremely relevant to today as this is what set the course of events that have led to our current involvement in the region.
This is an excellent source for people researching the Gulf War or USFP more generally. Even if the sources skew to the left and and occasionally repeat themselves in their criticism of the Bush administration, S and C nevertheless have done a great job showing the full spectrum of debate as well as some key primary documents.
This was a very illuminating collection of debates, speeches, documents, and articles, on a chapter of U.S. foreign policy I did not know much about. I recommend it to the casual perusor and to those seeking more rigorous analysis of the events leading up to the first Gulf War.
