With poems culled from a period of 20 years, this compilation brings together the works of English poet Peter Sansom. Having made the local and familiar his own resonant territory, Sansom explores the common ground of modern life, such as supermarkets, darts matches, life with teenagers, and family funerals. Including revised versions of previously published poems, this collection is sure to enthrall poetry lovers as well as fans of Sansom.
I really enjoyed this collection. What you get here are wonderous poems on a wide variety of subjects from snooker to bingo to Paul Cezanne to teeth to fainting and yes even to love. Sansom is witty, original, moving and can cover the ordinary and the everyday with brilliance. The only bad thing I can think to say about it is that it is a little on the slim side. I wanted more. A poet I will go out of my way to read.
