Full-color photographs depict examples of perspective in art throughout the ages in a work that examines Alberti's "discovery" of linear perspective and its shaping of art, from Alberti to the visual explosion of pop art. 35,000 first printing.
It was as visually busy as any other DK Eyewitness Book I’ve read. However, that also means it was jam-packed with a ton of text and visual examples which is awesome.
This book went through the history of perspective as a “discovery.” It covered the inventions to try to capture or simplify perspective as well as the various artistic applications throughout time. Most of the book focused on the earlier (pre-20th century) studies and art using perspective.
I wouldn’t say this book is a great help to learning how to actually draw in perspective, but it does provide a lot of examples and intellectual information about it.
