This book uses poetry to illustrate the environment during different seasons of the year. The illustrations also give readers great clues that they can use while reading.

A Chill in the Air is a collection of nature poems for fall and winter. It includes poems about a variety of different activities that can be done in the fall or winter such as blackberry picking, ice skating, sledding, etc. It also contains poems about the seasons themselves. I enjoyed this book. I thought it was simple yet entertaining. I could see children thoroughly enjoying it. A Chill in the Air would be a great book to use for a poetry unit on different seasons and would benefit students from 1-3 grade.

I liked the variety in the poems. I think its nice to expose children to a wide range of poetry. I also liked the theme of the collection. the illustrations were nice. they were soft edged and muted in color. I would have liked if the autumn pictures were a little more bold. the poetry style was decent. I would have liked to see a little more word play and broader vocabulary, but it was still enjoyable.

This is a fun, simple book of poetry about fall and winter. The poems are very basic and simplistic. The illustrations are cute though and definitely add to the poetry. It is an easy-to-read book of poetry I would have in my classroom library but not likely teach from.

An alright book, but not something that really sticks in your mind or imagination. Good illustrations.
