Set on the Texas-Mexico border, against the backdrop of Big Bend National Park, this story picks up where "The Bluest Eyes in Texas" left off. Longing for a bit of peace and quiet, Kennedy takes Carson home to meet her family. But you never really completely shake your childhood, and Kennedy's past collides with the present, threatening to tear her family apart and, and placing her life and Carson's in the very balance. Meanwhile, Carson must come to terms with her feelings for Kennedy. Will she settle for what has become comfortable for her in a very short time, or is she ready to take things to the next level, reaching for something infinitely more satisfying? There are mysteries to solve, and decisions to be made, while walking the borderline.

The fun, intrigue and romance continue for Kennedy Nocona and Carson Garret. I continue to enjoy the interesting and dynamic relationship between the two as they work together to deal with the challenges presented. Kennedy is an example of perseverance and restraint as she waits for Carson to commit or not commit to their relationship. Carson is an example of I want in but what if I do and I get emotionally hurt. I just cannot take anymore pain. I thought the challenges presented to them during this read were tough for the characters and the reader because you thought enough is enough. On the other hand, I cheered for them as they dealt with one challenge after another. I do hope there is a another book in the series because I am very interested in seeing what is next.
