One cold day Mouse and Poppa venture into the clear white world. From sledding down hills, to skating across the ice, to meeting fluffy angels, Mouse finds that wintertime is full of surprises. And before it's time to go ome, Mouse just might have time to "make" a special new friend!
A cute wee story, good for the littler picture book crowd, in which Mouse and his/her Poppa go out to play in the beautiful snow. They make angel wings in the snow, "flap, flop!"; they make a snow house, "pitty-pat"; they go ice skating, "twirly, whirly!" The words are fun to say and the fun, loving relationship between a father/grandfather and child is nice to see. The illustrations are adorable.
Mouse and Poppa have so much fun playing in the snow! We had some skeptics in our storytime group that didn't think Mouse could sled, skate, and make snow angels just like his Poppa can, but we quickly learned that Mouse can do anything he sets his mind to... he just does so in his own unique way! There were plenty of fun sounds to make throughout the story, like *swoosh* sledding down the hill and *zzzipity, zzzip* gliding on skates! In the middle of the story we even tried our hand at skating in figure eights and twirling around the ice! We imagined how Mouse would try to do a triple axle... It wasn't exactly as graceful as Tonya Harding's, but Mouse has his own style.
A likeable book. It shows the loving relationship between papa mouse and little mouse and all the activities they do in the snow. The art is cute. Nothing extremely great and not a lot of detail but the snow is good. It uses a lot of onomatopoeia with each thing they do. The father/son bond is really nice to see and it is also fun seeing all the things you can do in a particular season done in story form.
A sweet story about a loving and trusting relationship between Little Mouse and Poppa as Little Mouse experiences his first snow. The story line and text are more appropriate to toddlers than preschoolers, but the length is more appropriate to preschoolers. I'll paper clip a few spreads together and use it with my toddler crowd.
Mouse and Poppa head out for a fun day in the snow. Whatever Poppa shows Mouse - skating, snow building - Mouse wants to do too. In the end they work together to create a Snow Mouse. A cute story about the joy you can find in a snowy day.
I loved it! It was so sweet! I love Mouses' grandpa and they make a great team when making snowmen together. It was a great way to interpret winter and snow and the feeling of a chill in the air in a kid-friendly form.
I guess we can call this story cute but I was expecting more from it. I know this is for young children but still would be nice to see more picture books that show that the children listening to their parents or teachers read it to them aren't so dumb.
This is a cute book that discusses ways to play in the snow. It has fun pictures that look like they were painted on a canvas. The book also has onomatopoeia.
Another cute installment in the "Mouse's First..." series. I love how this one shows the mouse bonding with his dad by trying to do all the things his Poppa does in the snow.
Whatever Poppa did, Mouse did as well. This book taught me how important it is to be a good role model because our child is watching us. She's observing us and we have to set good examples for her.
I've liked all the books in this series, and this is no exception. It's clear that M enjoyed these books more when she was younger, since they have really simple language.
Little Mouse goes out in the snow with his Poppa. Everything Poppa does Little Mouse does, too - sledding, skating, making snow angels, and more. Then they do one final special thing before going inside. Fun illustrations.
