Paula on writing-
"So many people question that Scripture is relevant, that it has the answers for us in this day and age, that it can speak to the deepest cries of our hearts.

I believe God's word IS relevant, it DOES have the answers for us even in this day and age and it absolutely CAN speak to the deepest cries of our hearts.

I write to demonstrate that."

First off: I still hate the hero.
He still had this warped view of everything his former mistress said. And even kind of liked her.
Ugh. Men!

I liked the heroine yet again. She was one tough cookie. And even thou I ultimately did not support her decision to stay with the hero in book one, she is the first, and maybe the only, book heroine that genuinely made me like the way she excepted another woman’s child fathered by her husband.

The all around forgiveness was a bit too much for me. I guess I am not that good a Christian to just forgive the ultimate nut job that Tracy was. Her master plan about getting pregnant by Chuck in order to have a child was downright creepy. (Ever heard of a fertility clinic? Sheeesh.) Her course of action about everything was highly disturbing, and the la-la ‘she planned to go to rehab and get better but died’ ending was so sweetened I felt a little nauseated.

I am still troubled by the whole theme of this novel, and I am a firm believer in not forgiving a (romance) cheater unless some pretty outstand groveling occurs. BUT, I have to concur that this book was an outstanding drama. It was angsty, it was complex, it was detailed, it had three dimensional characters…If I only rated the writing and plot I would say this was a 4 star book. Seeing as how it still had a few holes and factor in my overall hate for cheating heroes and an even bigger hate for cheating heroes that get OW pregnant, I am unable to give it more than 3 stars.

Do, I recommend it? Well. If you do not have a problem with your angst being a little on the sweeten and sappy side with a healthy dose of Christian values, I say- go for it!

How do you respond when God has called you to the very limit of your faith... then asks you to go one step more?

How do you forgive the unforgivable? Does grace or mercy or justice have a limit?

I am the author, but Indemnity, (the follow-up story to Contingency) addresses these tough questions. Bobbi and Chuck have rebuilt their marriage after his affair, and are forced to deal with the reappearance of the other woman and the son born from the infidelity.

I invite you to join Bobbi and Chuck as they wrestle with the true meaning of forgiveness, responsibility, and atonement.

Indemnity (in-dem-ni-tee) Noun; 1. protection or security against damage or loss; 2. compensation for damage or loss sustained; 3. something paid by way of such compensation; 4. protection, as by insurance, from liabilities or penalties incurred by one's actions; 5.legal exemption from penalties attaching to unconstitutional or illegal actions, granted to public officers and other persons.

Sometimes in life it takes a life altering event to change things and allow us to see things differently. Often times we are the ones who get in our own way of seeing God's plan.

Bobbi has spent the last 7 years dealing with the affects of Chuck's affair with his co-worker, Tracy Ravenna. This time has been spent in counseling, and learning how to rebuild the trust within their marriage. Now that Tracy is no longer working at the law firm and has dropped her harrassment lawsuit against him and the firm, their marriage seems to be on the mend.

That is until 3 weeks before the beginning of the school semester, Bobbi notices a name on her first grade roster, Jackson Charles Ravenna. Pure coincidence or has her pain come back to haunt her once again. She learns the mother's name is Tracy Ravenna and believes that once more Chuck is keeping secrets from her and confronts him after work. Chuck is just as shocked as Bobbi is and demands to know if Jack is really his son, a product of his affair with Tracy. He also wants to know why she has been keeping it from him for 6 years and why now, she is back in their lives again.

For Bobbi, it has brought back all those feelings of betrayal, distrust and anger in having once more to deal with Tracy and Chuck's affair. This time with a child in the middle, she isn't sure she is capable of dealing with it again or if her marriage can weather this storm.

In the sequel to Contingency by Paula Wiseman, we are introduced to Indemnity, the second book in the Covenant of Trust Series. Paula once more puts your emotions through the ringer in how Bobbi is forced to confront some of her deepest fears and pain again. I found myself siding with her so many times and often wondered just how heartless and clueless Chuck could be in this situation. In the end, we see the perfect example of just how forgiveness works and what the true purpose is in dealing with the really hard issues we have to face.

I received this book compliments of Pump Up Your Book Tours and Paula Wiseman for my honest review. Since reading the first book and knowing there would be a sequel, I was once more torn with how this family would deal with a child being born in the midst of trying to heal their broken marriage from an affair. This one really hit home in so many areas for me. Paula writes so well, you immediately feel connected to all of the characters, from Bobbi's insecurities, to Jackson's desperate need for a family. It all works once again and rates a stellar 5 out of 5 stars!!! Now I wait in anticipation to the last book in the series to roll out. Throughout all the books I've read it really does show you how God can use the absolute worst circumstances in our life, to bring about His will, His glory and His good for us in this life.

The "hero" in the book is still a jerk. He did not care about his wife at all. He never took her feelings into consideration. He did what he wanted and expected her to do what he said. He didn't once think about his other sons or daughter either. All He cared about was Jack and himself. He even considered the other woman more than his wife.He bullied his wife and never cared about how she felt at all. He doesn't deserve anything he has. His wife is the only one who suffered for his betrayal. He never paid for what he did, but his wife is still paying for it. That is so wrong.

Indemnity is a wonderful follow-up to the award-winning book one (Contingency)! In this latest installment, Paula Wiseman (author) does what only great writers can do: Makes you feel sorry for the antagonist (Tracy, the adulteress). The characters are three dimensional, the prose tight and Kingsbury-like. Definitely a must-read!

after i rant for the 1st book, now i'll pour my review for the scnd book.
Let me say this first, If when boobie died, her god didnt put her to the bestest heaven, then i'll ask my God to put her in his heaven. what an amazing human being, this boobie girl is. if i was only half as good as hers, maybe i'll be more depressed. LOL. i mean it. boobie, is one heck of an amazing inhumanly perfect character. i guess there's no bad bones in her body, she did get angry though, but it only last like... 5scnd, and then she will give you her forgiveness. you named it she give it. maybe if i burn her house and wreck away all of her saving, she still forgive me, bcoz of God, and bcoz it's the right thing to do.

i still doesnt like chuck though. even after 7years since his affair and having another baby girl w/boobie, shannon who now 5-6years old, he still can get his nerves soar when tracy came and met him on her front door when she only wearing a tank top and a short pants, the desire still there.
Why?
after all tracy did to his family, and after that hurtful heavy time for his wife, why the desire still there? why he still have to get his nerves up and spontaneously remembering her iconic seducing uniform 7years ago, w/tnak top n shortpants? i thought it was supposed to died, burn away and left nothing in his heart, cold, empty. not even a single stir, but the small "fire" still burn. although he did his best to "guarding" his wall. but she still can affect him.amazing.. what a jerk. but hey... i guess im wrong. maybe that's wht normal man do. me? even if Brad pitt (in his prime golden blonde hard abs day) came topless and only wear a CK underwear, met me, and he was the guy that once making my life fall apart coz he was a manipulated bastard, no freaking way i will respoonsed like "look at that bod...", no. but that's me.

in this book, once again boobie was faced by the repercusion of chuck's affair w/tracy 7years ago. yep! chuck n tracy has kid together! voila! *throw a confetti*, the kid that chuck didnt knw he exist, until tracy personally choose to put jack (the boy) in boobie's class.
speaking of tracy, her character is just.. woah... she deliberately choosing chuck, seduced him, had sex w/him so she can get pregnant, then deliberately arrange a plan where she give boobie a tips of her husband affair w/tracy, and then she vanished, but then she drop a charge against chuck, where she wrote the very small detail of what she and chuck did in his conferece rooms. every single steps of their sexual encounter, which making boobie hurt, again, and then 7 years after she wrecked a family of 18years marriage w/2 sons, she comeback and pull abait to show that she n chuck has jack!

yeay freaking..yeaahh!!!

having jack and knowing that chuck has a son w/tracy, chuck wants to filed for joined custody, i was waiting what kind of scenes that will happened when tracy met boobie face to face for the first freaking time when they are at the court, pleading for jack's custody. and im satisfy for tracy. she never failed me. when boobies ask, why she did this 7years ago, she calmly and confidently said things like "yes, i choose you husband, i get pregnant, i choose him to impregnant me bcoz i knw he wont leaving you (boobie), i knw he can recovered fast, and look at this now, your marriage still stand"

ouuwwwhhh yeah... this girl will be the queen in hell! so technically, she said, why not? it's as easier as, i cut someone's body, i took her/his kidney, ofc she/he will bleeding, but i will sew him/her back, and let the body heal, coz the body will recovering and the body still can working and she/him still can be alive! it was freaking perfect.
what a lovely psycho she is... i want to kissed her cheek and brush her hair and maybe do some shopping spree together.do girls talk and talking about man. must be fun!

Paula has attained another peak with her book, Indemnity, the second in her Covenant of Trust Series. In Contingency, Chuck Molinsky has committed adultery with Tracy Ravenna, with the subsequent fallout of Chuck and Bobbi’s marriage and roller-coaster ride of emotional upheavals that befell the whole family, hitting Bobbi the hardest. Trust almost became an obscene word to Bobbi, let alone forgiveness of her husband.

Seven years have passed when Tracy and her son, Jackson Charles Ravenna, arrive back in town. The bombshell explodes as Bobbi finds out about Chuck’s son from his adulterous affair when she finds Tracy has enrolled Jack in her first grade class. Emotional upheavals plow through Bobbi’s mind and heart, uprooting their family system with the news of a half-brother. Trust in her husband’s fidelity, attraction to Tracy, and honesty is revisited, while she wonders if Tracy’s manipulations and Jack’s appearance will destroy their marriage. Chuck filing for joint custody is an unconscionable act in Bobbi’s mind. Will Bobbi be able to trust and forgive once again?

What makes Paula’s book so pertinent and relevant is the absolute reality and pain of the circumstances, emotions, interventions, resolutions, and family reactions. You are pulled into the family dynamics once again. It’s intimate and personal. You hurt when they hurt. The fact that Paula has Bobbi trusting in Chuck’s re-commitment to the Lord and his marriage through their months of Godly counseling shows the strength of hope, faith and forgiveness in a very personal and meaningful way. Prayer is an integral part of the story, as should be in a Christian marriage.

An added dimension of tragedy in Tracy’s life is added to the story, which tugs on your heartstrings even deeper. Paula weaves this suspense throughout the story, keeping you on edge. The shocking end brings tears to your eyes.

I am thoroughly grateful for the way that Paula shows how God can work out any circumstance if we commit everything to prayer and trust in Him. It’s what gives me hope.

If you’ve read Contingency, be sure to pick up Indemnity. It will bless your heart in ways you wouldn’t expect. I would highly suggest you read Contingency first.

This book was provided by Paula Wiseman in exchange for my honest review. No monetary compensation was exchanged.

Infidelity and temptation aren’t problems solely for the unsaved. This novel picks up after the restoration of a marriage that had dealt with these issues and sought out the help they needed to restore. I did not read book one in the series, Indemnity is the second book in the Covenant of Trust series, but was able to get the gist of what happened in book one. I do recommend reading the first one though to give you better than a ‘gist’! Chuck and Bobbi have moved on and found comfort again in each other and God when Chuck’s sin is thrown back at them once again. The ‘other woman’ Tracy shows up in town with a 1st grader that resembles Chuck! Talk about being thrown back under the bus. I felt so sad for Bobbi who sees this child Jack.
Lessons learned in the past in the positive are back in place as Chuck and Bobbi have friends come and counsel then, pray with them and give words of wisdom. I loved how they had such a network of help, but is seemed out of place to me not having read the first book. I thought it was strange to have Bobbi’s mother in law come and pray along with Bobbi’s sister, and a group of friends. I don’t know that many people have that network of love and support. Throughout the book though I felt that Chuck and Bobbi were certainly blessed by that community of Christians.
There is so much depth to this story, and forgiveness with the aid of Christ. Love can conquer even those things we think will end the relationship. I loved reading the second one in the series I can’t wait to see what the third holds. This is a great contemporary series to read to see God’s grace modeled and how it can impact the lives of so many.

When I first read that Tracy was back, my first thought was, "not again! They have just gotten their lives back in order." Now that they are past what happened, and learn that the affair produced a child, everything they thought was over and done with is being dredged back to the surface again.

'Indemnity' picks up the story seven years after the affair that almost destroyed Chuck and Bobbi's marriage, when Bobbi trusted Chuck again. Everything seemed to be back to normal - better than before actually - but now that Tracy is back and with a child (Jack) that is most certainly Chuck's, Bobbi is not sure she ever really dealt with it all.

Jack is a very sweet child and you can't help but fall in love with him right away, regardless of who his mother is. However, when Chuck wants to get joint-custody of him, Bobbi has a hard time accepting him as his son. Every time he has a father/son moment with Jack, Bobbi has a hard time with it. Jack is a very perseptive boy and notices her reaction to him, which he interprets as her disliking him - which is not the case. She just can't get past the fact that he is a constant reminder of Chuck's infidelity.

I enjoyed this story even more than 'Contingency' - which I LOVED. So that tells you how much I enjoyed this one. I think that Paula Wiseman is an excellent author. Her writing reminds me a lot of Francine Rivers and I think that once she is more well-known, others will think so too. I cannot recommend this book enough - it is FANTASTIC! However, if you want to have the full background story, make sure to read 'Contingency' first.

*** I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author to review. I was asked to give my honest opinion of the book - which I have done.***

Paula Wiseman has created a sequel that is just as engaging as her first. She uses Christian values to portray a family that is being torn apart by a mistake from seven years previous.

Bobby has forgiven Chuck for his affair and they have patched up their marriage and are living a happy life. They discover that there was a child created when he strayed and now have to deal with the consequences of that mistake again. The feelings are dredge up and mistrust and hurt feelings become a focal part of the book. The biggest problem is that now they have to deal with the mother of the illegitimate son.

I like how Paula Wiseman is able to fashion a story with real emotions and true to life circumstances. She does this well and is able to capture and retain the interest of her audience. As I reader I could empathize with the feelings and emotions of the characters. They are well portrayed and their situations are realistic.

This book deals once again with forgiveness and repentance. A huge emphasis is placed on the Savior, Jesus Christ and his role in atoning for the sins of man. This is a book that will appeal to Christians and others who enjoy a great story.

I don't know *why* I waited so long to leave a review, but I did. OH well.
I've heard a lot about this whole "second book curse" thing, and I don't know where they get it. I mean, I guess some books have it, but Indemnity is not one of them. Indemnity picks up seven years after Contingency ended and it just smoothly rolls into action. It's phenomenal from the get-go. From the adorable Jack (who brightens up every chapter he's in, I loved him to pieces) to the emotional struggle, everything is raw, real, and believable. I was glad I read it. It just has such an emotional draw and you see it happening. Not only do you *see* it happening, but you *feel* it happening, too.
Definitely a must read--but check out Contingency first! Then once you've read Indemnity, find Precedent!

I received this excellent book from Goodreads First Reads.

Although I didn't read the first book, the story jumped right off, captured my attention, and I devoured it.

The characters were believable, even knowable it seemed.

I felt the way the wife felt through most of the novel. A very gripping and heartwrenching story! A sad ending, but all worked out in the end. I cannot wait to read more of Paula's works...!!!

Again the writing is good. Christians are supposed to forgive. However in this story it see ms so farfetched. One woman is tested by god this much. And then there are two more books I can’t read about anymore of her suffering.

I was introduced to this series when I read the first book, Contingency, in the anthology, Inspired. I really liked it, so when I saw the author, Paula Wiseman, had a link for a free download of the sequel, I jumped at the chance.

I actually like the second book better than the first. Seven years after her husband's affair, Bobbie Molinsky is dealt another devastating blow. She learns that Chuck and his mistress, Tracy Ravena, conceived a child and that the boy is enrolled in her second grade class.

Chuck sues for joint custody, but Bobbie is worried he will fall under the other woman's spell again. She knows Tracy is a cold, calculating woman, and she's not sure why she really came back. Chuck uncovers chilling facts about her past, and Bobbie fears for their family. The suspense mounts toward an unexpected ending you won't want to miss.

Be sure to have tissue handy when you read this book. Wiseman is a talented storyteller, and her many point-of-view characters will tug at your heart strings. If you appreciate true-to-life fiction and are not afraid of dealing with deep subject matter, then this is a powerful choice. Be prepared to face some of your own fears, as Bobbie deals with hers.

Chuck and Bobbi thought life was good. Since they had reconciled seven years ago, they had a precious 6 year old daughter. Then Tracy Ravenna turned up again. They found she was back, when she placed her 6 year old son in Bobbi's 1st grade class. Bobbi was upset! She immediately confronted Chuck in his office if he had known about this son.

Well, Chuck took her to court and won visitation rights. Her son Jack loved being with Jack's family. but it was extremely hard on Bobbi. Jack called her "Mrs.Dad" Soon they began to suspect that Jack was afraid of his mother.

Buy the book and find out how Jack became a full time member of Chuck's family and how Bobbi learned not to resent the little boy. Excellent book. Well written. Hard to put down.

After reading the first book in the series, I couldn’t wait to read the next one and I was not disappointed. I felt like I really knew the people in the book as if they were my friends in real life. And although I liked that aspect of the book, I also think that it could also have worked quite well if this was a totally separate book with separate characters. For one woman to be tested this much and prevail, is almost too much. I still enjoyed the book immensely though. I could really empathize with the characters and their struggles while questioning the strength of my own faith. Do put this book on your Must-read list.

I read the first book in this series, but this where I will be stopping. The first was preachy, but this book takes that to a whole new level. If you enjoy Christian romances you will like this. I gave it three stars because it’s well written, though not really my taste.

Paula Wiseman has nailed it again with the second part of the Covenant of Trust series. The story very quickly drew me in, and I didn't want to put the book down until I'd finished it. I'm glad that I have the remaining two books to see what happens next.

The consequences of Chuck's affair continue for the Molinsky family seven years later when Tracy Ravenna reappears in town...with her young son, Jack. It quickly becomes clear that Jack is Chuck's son, and Tracy wants Chuck to be involved in the boy's life. Again all the family are forced to deal with difficult circumstances, and have differing methods of coming to terms with the situation. In the middle of it all is a delightful little boy who is happy to discover his new family.

In Paula Wiseman's skilful style, the story is told realistically with compassion and understanding. And I, not often a crier at books, found myself in tears at points. I continue to highly recommend this series.

What? It's not over, all they went through after Chuck's affair? Just like real life, baby.

I recently read Contingency and followed it up immediately with Indemnity. I've purchased the third book, but loved these so much I want to read them again before I continue the series.

The only reason I didn't rate this one 5 stars like Contingency is that parts of it seemed a little too... what?... sappy? for me... mostly scenes involving the little boy. Even so, I have grown to love this family and even thought about them outside of my reading times. I even started to ask for prayer for them once when I remembered that they're just a little fictional family... ayayay. I am looking forward to seeing how the rest of their story unfolds.

This probably won't make much sense if you haven't read the first book. This was not bad, but it didn't seem as well written as the previous story.

Chuck and Bobbi have recovered from Chuck's affair, again they are back in a place where life seems blessed. When they least expect it - Tracy makes a comeback in quite a dramatic fashion and Bobbi and Chuck have to hope their faith will get them through.
