This vibrantly designed and accessible guide gives kids a warm welcome to yoga. Liz Lark, an experienced instructor who also has a degree in the performing arts, takes a group of children through a session, from sun salutations through standing and seated postures, to relaxation. Animal and nature poses, a special favorite of kids, help make the process fun, as well as beneficial. Each exercise is introduced by a brief story about the pose, followed by easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions.
This book is a big hit with my 5-year-old triplets and 7-year-old son. Pictures and descriptions helped me understand clearly how to instruct our kids on the various poses. The kids enjoyed seeing other kids in the photos - the exercises looked fun to them. Now I will be able to select various exercises from the book and compile them into a "class" that I can lead the kids through. They'll develop strength, balance, coordination and mental stamina. This can be a technique they learn for stress-relief. And we can all have fun together while doing yoga.
