Rate this book
John Sadd has been part of the Progress Development group for 18 years in many different capacities. In his first years at Progress he was responsible for the product's first SQL support and a number of other language features. Later, he was the Director of Development and responsible for managing the entire development group through the release of Progress Version 7.

He was the co-architect of the ADM and SmartObjects in Version 8, and created the ADM2 in Version 9, for which he was awarded a United States patent. He also designed underlying 4GL features, such as Super Procedures and the PUBLISH/SUBSCRIBE syntax in Version 9.

John is now an Engineering Fellow and OpenEdge Evangelist at Progress Software Corporation. In addition to being part of the architects team defining the new OpenEdge Reference Architecture for OpenEdge 10, he has written three books on Progress Dynamics, the OpenEdge Progress 4GL Handbook (formerly known as "Modern Progress"), and a book on using ProDataSets. He is also a regular presenter at Progress Software customer events around the world.
