There is everything in the world to love about this short compelling diary of daily life with a pigeon rescued as a fledgling from a London train station. I particularly liked the observation that Victoria bobbed her head as she walked, and that even as they carried Victoria, she continued to bob her head like a hen. Pigeons are amazingly adaptable smart birds, with so much beauty and variety…and this book celebrates that.
What a sweet little book...Victoria was rescued from a subway station and brought to a farm where she made herself right at home. The bird becomes an endeared member of the author's family and is constantly up to various antics. She enjoys rides in the car, listening to music, going for walks and watching the general activities of the household. I am not a huge bird fan, but am happy I found and read this book.
I picked up this book when I was a 12 year old, I'm 33 now and I still reread this book. It is one of my all time favourites, it makes me laugh out loud, it's sweet and charming. Any animal lover will love this book.
