After graduating from Brigham Young University in 1992 with a B.A. in journalism,Daybell worked as a cemetery sexton, before establishing end of days publisher Spring Creek Book Company, in 2004, with his wife, a graphic artist and manager. Chad and Tammy had 5 children: Garth, Emma, Seth, Leah, and Mark.
In 2015, Chad Daybell allegedly twice heard a voice telling him to relocate to Rexburg, Idaho; he and Tammy moved there from Springville, Utah that June. Tamara passed away on October 20, 2019. Chad Daybell married Lori Vallow on November 5, 2019 in Hawaii.
Daybell was convicted of three counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Tammy Daybell, his late wife, JJ Vallow and Tylee Ryan, his current wife's two children.
On May 30, 2024, Chad was found guilty of all charges related to the deaths of his first wife and of Lori's children. On June 1, 2024, he was sentenced to death.

Did Not Finish
June 13, 2020Chad Daybell was arrested on 6/9/2020 after the remains of two children were found on his property. This is just the tip of the iceberg where he is concerned regarding law enforcement's investigation which started because his current wife's children went missing in September 2019. Both have been uncooperative during the entire process.
Please be aware of his dangerous, cultish, and perverted beliefs that have been well-covered in the past year before reading anymore of Chad Daybell's books, especially as this fictional book's own synopsis ends with, "f you have an interest in what awaits the members of the LDS Church, this series should definitely be on your reading list."
If you are truly curious about what the LDS Church (also known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) believes about the second coming this series is not an appropriate source to entertain in the least. LOVED this series...too bad it isn't better written!
As I have been describing this series to others, it reminds me of when I read C.S. Lewis' The Last Battle - Lewis captured for me what I somehow was envisioning for myself what heaven would be like. Except this time it's Daybell capturing the lead up to the Second Coming. And while it's not perfect, (and not nearly as good writing as Lewis') and it probably won't happen exactly as he depicts, he did an excellent job of researching it all, and coming up with plausible ways of fulfilling the multitude of prophecies. (I was rather impressed with how well he documented those.) It seemed mostly plausible! And reading this series has taken some of the fear I had about the future, mostly by reminding me to make sure that I'm close to the Lord so that I'll be able to recognize His inspiration and and be willing to follow the prophet no matter what! Then it won't matter what happens to us - it will be the will of the Lord, and what's best for His plan and for us too, really!
The climax of this particular book included the Savior's return, that was WOW! With this book the surprises just kept coming, as I kept forgetting other prophecies needing to be fulfilled, even after His triumphant return. During the first reading, I loved that! In subsequent readings it dragged on and on, kind of as if it was trying to tie up all loose ends - it kind of left nothing to imagination, no questions. It was almost too complete.
...anyway, now I have to come back to life before the Second Coming, before most of the action I just read about - boo hoo. I'll just have to wait to go through it all in first person. It's going to be SO worth the trip! Even though it wasn't very well written, this series was still very worth reading.
It is a series we decided was worth owning!

I would rate this 2.5 (in between it was ok and liking it).
What I like about this series- it gives (some) plausible explanations for how things may happen during the last days. There certainly were things that I agreed with and ideas I hadn't contemplated before.
What I didn't like about the series- Some of the ideas for how things will happen seem far out there and some things are just plain corny. Daybell gives more descriptions of what is happening than dialogue or portraying how the characters feel & think. You don't really feel like you know the characters.
That said, if you are a fan of LDS fiction and are interested in the last days then it is worth reading the series once.

There really needs to be something between "didn't like it" and "it was ok."
As with the rest of Daybell's books, there is very little dialogue. The action and everything is described, but you're not really seeing anything happen through any of the character's eyes. It gets irritating fast. The ending is kind of abrupt and "jigga-wha?" And the epilogue is even a little, dare I say, weird. At least, weirder than the rest of the book.
So, not the worst Second Coming LDS fiction I have ever read. Also not the best. At least the books are short, so you can get through them fast.

A nicely tied up ending to the series, but still with some adventure for the main characters. As I think I commented on a previous book, a lot of it seemed too rushed to me, a "tell not show" sort of setup. Not easy subject matter, and covering a lot of time with not a lot of pages, but still a little disappointing.
Still, it is a series that I highly recommend. If nothing else, it is thought provoking and takes on the Millennium and the Last Days with a different perspective than any other series I've read.

I would probably give this book a 3.5--a 3 for the writing style, but a 4 for the content. I learned a lot from reading this series about the Second Coming, and I think that's mainly why Daybell wrote the series, but the dialog just wasn't very good.
This last book in the series deals with the events right before the Second Coming, and then also is about the first part of the Millennium.
I enjoyed this series mostly for the information it gave me.

Fantastic end to the "Standing in Holy Places" series. I enjoyed this book a little bit more than the others, I think because I can picture all of these happening and I am excited for them. I know it is "fiction" and this is Chad Daybell's view of how things will occur, but . . . . What a glorious time this will be!

My only regret with this book was that it took me four months to get around to reading it. I finally buckled down and read it in one night and was not disappointed. While this is a work of fiction, I was very intrigued about his depiction of life with resurrected beings and the final judgement. Bravo to you, Daybell!

Getting a bit tired of this series by book five, the final installment, but determined to finish the series. A few things seemed off to me, incompatible with what I believe of end times, and the quality of writing continues to be a distraction. I was surprised to find, however, that there was a scene in the final chapter that did certainly ring true and was very touching.

Great series of books. I just wish this one was longer! If you are at all interested in what may happen in the last days from the LDS perspective then you need to read this series. Fun, easy, clean, and inspirational.

Really liked this series. Made me think about the events leading up to the 2nd coming of the Savior. Very easy read. Powerful reminders that we need to stay close to our families and follow the prophet.

I really enjoyed this series and seeing possible ways all the prophecies of the 2nd coming may come to pass. I think the author did a great job and I wouldn't be surprised if he was pretty accurate on a how a few events unfold.
