This audiobook is EXACTLY the historical insight and summary I needed prior to starting Homer’s The Iliad for the first time. I learned so much from Bellitto and enjoyed all of the twelve topics. He was so engaging and hilarious!! I would have gladly listened to a longer version with more detail. If you ever got this take his university class, consider yourself lucky. 😆
This was the first time I consumed a lecture series in the form of an audiobook. I enjoyed the fact that the information presented was about various aspects of Greece and each chapter was a different subject altogether. Only downside to that is the fact that in doing so, a lot of the information is rather cursory. Or at least cursory from the perspective of someone who wants to delve deep into these topics. Having said, I did find the information that was presented interesting. Overall, this was a very easy read/listen irrespective of what one might already know on the subject matter.
This made for nice bite-size chunks to listen to on my commute on an individual topic. Kind of geared towards basic student intro to the topic. Dumbed down just enough that I might remember some of it.
This was excellent! It’s a series of academic lectures, but the professor is so interesting and engaging. I learned so much that will be very helpful on my upcoming trip to Greece!
