I first read this book over 15 years ago and I have been searching to own it ever since. In Belgium it is hard to find and I had to buy iy second hand from The Netherlands in Dutch just so I could own it and re read it after all this time. I have zero regrets. I am so happy to have this book in my life once again.

Fin bok! Finner noen ideer her som senere finnes igjen i Snøfall.

I read this as a child in the early ’90s, and I have always considered it my very first fantasy read.

Re-reading it now, more than 30 years later, I still find it eerie and beautiful. It handles a very big and difficult theme in a natural, accessible way, and I truly admire it for that.

That said, it took me quite a long time to get through. I was a little disappointed by the pacing and the writing style, which at times felt a bit too plain and somewhat dull.
