As the fourth son of merchant parents, Matthew Morgan has always been superfluous. The only guidance he ever received was to behave and stay out of the way. Now, at a university half a world away from home, he must discover who he is and what he wants. Too bad he's never made a decision in his life.
When Ash Thearon meets Matthew, the handsome fellow student he's been ogling all quarter, he finds him sweet, sexy, and more than a little puzzling. To solve that puzzle, he must first collect all the pieces, which is easier said than done. The new friends quickly become lovers, but Matthew's sheltered life has taught him only how to follow. Ash wants the give and take of an equal, and Matthew's tendency to try too hard to please others leaves Ash wondering how to teach him independence without losing him.
Writing, acting, bellydancing, and teaching people to talk in funny voices. Who knew you could make a living doing stuff like that? I didn't, and in fact I can't. Those are the things I do to feed my soul rather than my stomach.
I've always written, but I never expected to write romance. I have documented evidence of a seafaring play I wrote in the second grade. Something involving a giant duck, if memory serves; I'm too scared to dig it out of the binder and find out for sure. Since that rather inauspicious beginning, I've turned my hand to fantasy, science fiction, action adventure (with dinosaurs, oo!), and now steamy romance--with fantasy in it because that is my first genre love. It's inescapable when the first time you read The Lord of the Rings is in the fourth grade. (I read Asimov's Foundation trilogy the next year, but I didn't really understand it. I have yet to try reading it again lo these many years later.)
Off the page, I work in a number of positions with local theatres, I bellydance, and I train and perform aerial. I enjoy traveling, eating good food, drinking good coffee, and hanging out with my husband and our kitties.
A beautiful story of two men meeting and establishing a relationship. I didn't really like all the religion in it {made up for their world} or the argument, which seemed pointless and made me doubt Ash's ability to maintain a relationship. Still, I loved both characters and enjoyed being part of their world. The story has a HEA, in that both men plan to be together for life. It doesn't go far enough into their life to show that HEA, though. I would have loved to see them established. Despite the minor dislikes that I've mentioned, I thoroughly enjoyed this story both times that I read it.
This story was set in a AU, similar to Megan Derr's. Ash and Matthew both study at the University, but where Ash knows who he is and what he wants, Matthew is not so sure of himself.
