Time hasn't stopped after the apocalypse. After the long nuclear winter, a few continue the struggle for survival in the irradiated wastelands. Then, a new order emerges, with a directive to destroy whatever freedom remains in its fortified Enclaves and the surrounding Outlands. Kane, once its trusted and feared warrior, is now a fugitive driven to fathom the past and unravel the future.
SECRETS OF THE STONES
On the Emerald Isle, stone megaliths guard the old ways and the people who returned to them. In this cradle of Celtic lore, Kane searches for clues to the fateful enmity that shadows their hopes. But not even his fierce will nor Brigid Baptiste's empathy for the ancient ways and Grant's warrior instincts prepares them for an encounter with a woman whose ancient earth magic and otherworld technology bring them shatteringly close to the truth.
It was hard to get into this one. Kane and Brigid have this bond-like connection yet neither are facing it head on. Insults and cold shoulders seem to get them through Savage Sun.
There was a lot of information contained between these pages and for the most part, it was a little much. It was needed, but overdone.
I did feel sorry for Domi and her people, but we moved past that quite quickly.
Hopefully, the next has an uncluttered plot that moves the overall story-arc along since we are more knowledgeable about the aliens and mutants.
The best part about reading this book is now I have an entire new series that I’ve just fallen in love with. I never read any of the outlander novels back in the day because I was such a huge fan of death lands, and I thought it straight too far from that formula. Now I see what they were trying to do with those novels and they are incredibly enjoyable. Mark Ellis, the original writer of the first bunch of novels as a well-known name in the comic industry, but this is the first I’ve read of any of his work. He is a master at weaving a great story with just a perfect balance of gun porn, Science fiction, mystery and character development. For those of you who haven’t read any outlander novels, the basic backstory is aliens, bio engineered humans in the distant past created the apocalypse that led to the death lands and outlanders to reset the human race. Sound familiar? In this particular addition of outlanders, Kane in his group had to Scotland to stop the rise of a hybrid alien witch who was created through a twisted faction of the Arcon directive. This directive is part of the alien plan to take over planet earth, and enslave the human race. A great novel I can’t recommend it enough.
An okay action book about life after the Nukecaust in 2001. This time Kane, Domi, Grant and Brigid go to Ireland and deal with witches and mutants over there. They take care of the baddy, Strongbow, in England before returning home. Lakesh is discovered and arrested by Sano. More of the same from this series. I do question why a highly trained operative keeps running out of ammo though.
An action-adventure story, showing a lot of research. The characters really shine in this one. Love the concept of Kane and Brigid being anamchara (soul friend). I really look forward to the next book in this series especially since Lakesh has been taken by Salvo and Pollard.
Kane and Baptist are separated during this book. Kane sees a segment of his former lifes. Baptist and Kane have to deal with more half breeds that were created by an insane dictator / former Frozen adviser. Their troop are on borrowed time because Baptist former boss/ rebellion leader falls into the hands of the the head magistrate. How long will he last?

Set in the same world as the Deathlands series. These books follow another set of adventures in the post holocaust world. Good men's adventures series. Recommended
