Note: The decision was made to consolidate all Disney publications under the name Walt Disney Company. This profile is for Walt Disney, the characters he created, and the company he founded. Any questions, please ask in the Librarian's Group.

Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.

Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.

Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.

The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.

I think this large format storybook was better than Rescuers Down Under, the movie. And that's taking into account that my Mom who read it to me doesn't have quite the vocal talent that Bob Newhart, John Candy and Eva Gabor do.

Full page color pictures. Concise text. Disney magic.

I have heard mixed reviews about this book, but I have to admit that I loved it. I also loved the 1990 film version. In fact, I cannot read the book without hearing the voices of Eva Gabor, who voiced the character of Bianca, and Bob Newhart who perfectly voiced Bernard's character.
The story itself is one of adventure, and loyalty to a cause.

I give this Disney book 4 OUT OF 5 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐

First thing's first: the scene on the cover is impossible because no bird in the world is large enough to carry even the smallest human. "Ah," you say, "but that's why the one in the story is so valuable—it's the only one in the world!" How the heck did it reproduce, then, to have a nest of eggs?

Purely as an adaptation of the movie, it's *probably* good? I haven't seen it to grade 100%, but I've seen other, similar adaptations that are pretty close to this one (but don't remember which to leave reviews this late in the game).

Recommended for young readers who liked the movie, though I'm not sure how it will go over for complete newcomers. They might like it, too? Even though it seems to gloss over a lot of the characters (like Jake the Kangaroo Rat) that might cause some dismay over their short "screen" time.

Excellent Disney illustrations adorn this edition of The Rescuers Down Under'.

The story revolves around Cody, a young boy who lives in the Australian outback. He enjoyed exploring the rocky cliffs and crevices around his home but more than anything he loved to play with his animal friends. And he had learned to talk to them and had learnt their language.

He has an adventurous time, beginning with a meeting with his kangaroo friend Faloo and when he discovers that golden eagle Marahute is caught in a poacher's net, he manages to climb up the rocky cliff and rescue him. But the episode was not without danger, especially when he encounters poacher Percival McLeach who captures Cody and puts him in a cage, having been helped by his lizard.

But with the help of Bianca and Jake, two mice friends, and Wilbur the albatross, Cody is eventually freed, once again after some dangerous activity, and they all live happily thereafter!

As an adaptation of the movie, this is a very concise and action-packed tale. The boy Cody saved a golden eagle from a trap, then the eagle saved him as he fell from the cliff. A poacher found the eagle and caught Cody, and the mouse team of rescuers set out to save everyone.

Heart warming adventure for the Rescuers in Australia. They team up with Australian boy, Cody and a host of local fauna to rescue some animals caught by an evil poacher and his goanna sidekick. The lavish illustrations, help even the youngest children follow the story.

My love of reading started when i was young, and it gives me immense pleasure to provide books to Spread the Word Nevada, an organization that passes them on to children in the community. They are a terrific organization supporting an important cause. If your local I encourage you to check them out. For those living further a field, look in your own community, their may already be a similar program in place. And if not, you can always help start one.

Myself, I go out on the weekends and
shop thrift store and bulk book lots to rescue books and donate them. Sometimes I'll find a book I remember reading when I was young and will read it again before passing it on.

I don't rate these books using my normal scale, instead I give most of them three stars. This isn't a Criticism of the book, simply my way of rating them as good for children.

This was a book my grandma used to read me when I was young. I liked when she read it to me even more than when I watched the movie. Her voices during the story made it great. I recommend this Australian adventure story to younger kids who love to listen to read alouds. If you are a teacher, I recommend showing the movie after you have read the story to them.

Although this book is long is would be great for older students who want a fun read who want the length of a chapter book without the difficulty. I would also use it as a casual read aloud where we read a different part every other day so it can be a kind of literary weekly t.v. show. for them!

I have always loved The Rescuers Down Under and I am surprised that more pople don't know about it. This book is a wonderful companion to the movie. It is very engrossing and has beautiful, colourful, full page illustrations. It's not too girly and not too boyish. Every kid will love it!

This sequel book was actually better than the first because we know a lot more about these characters. This is a delightful adventure book for children.
