First, whenever an author can write a book that is simplified in its story and process, yet enlighten me I always appreciate that author. Much like the One Minute Manager, this book is easy to read yet understand the concepts. We all desire success, but what can keep us there is the ability to build a proper foundation and understand the layers that it takes that when put into practice becomes repeatable.
As I often find meself flitting from one idea or project several times, this book was an encouragement. The book shows the difference between those who have talent and those who produce results. I liked the chess board analogy that shows that progress is not always a straight line, the way we perceive it. In fact, bamboo sometimes clumps. but still produces a value resource. So if you don’t quite think you fit the mould, but still want results. Have a look at this wonderful short and easy-to-read book.
This book struggles to overlay the qualities of bamboo with self-help principles. It keeps attempting to make a coherent connection between the properties of bamboo and generally held wisdom around self-improvement. It feels like a regurgitation of self-help books with a sales pitch for hiring a "career coach."
The 12 chapters in this book are the 12 analogical principles we can adopt from the Bamboo tree into in our life. These principles are very well written, and are very easy to understand.
A good short read. Explains the importance of Bamboo plant and how should one inculcate the values from bamboo and grow in life (personally and professionally).
This book had amazing facts and brilliant and useful information, I really wanted to make highlights throughout the book, but found that I was highlighting whole paragraphs at a time...however I was getting a little bored while reading it. It does have a slight dryness to it, however it was worth pushing through and for a reasonably short book, not too hard to do.
