The Total Wellbeing diet really works, helping you lose weight permanently by keeping you satisfied and giving you more energy. Like number 2 in the series, good food, but expensive and hard to find ingredients. Did feel better for it, though it is hard to adapt to a family with 5 kids, some fussy eaters.
I decided to re-read this, having seen the diet advertised recently as a challenge. Although I don't particularly follow this diet, I could nevertheless refresh some of my food ideas. The recommended diet is rather high in protein, but not low in carbs, they just recommend using lower GI types. Healthy fats are also recommended. There is nothing faddish here, and the recommended foods contain necessary micronutrients. Recommendations are based on scientific research by a well-respected organisation. Suggestions for exercise are included as well. There's lots of information about healthy weight ranges, BMI, etc. to enable setting of goals and monitoring progress. Food groups, vitamins, minerals and micronutrients are explained and the reader can see how they fit into the recommended diet. This is as much a general health book as a diet book, but of course there are recommended meal plans and recipes to make life a bit easier. Not all recipes are illustrated, but there are some colour photos to whet the appetite. Even if you don't want to follow the diet exactly, there is still so much useful information in this book to make it a worthwhile read. Rating 4.0.
I love the CSIRO diet. I have come across complaints of too much protein, but this worked for us. Carbs are in smaller amounts, but are included -- and I love my carbs :). Both my husband and I did lose a heap of weight, and we all loved the meals. The biggest problem is the expense: our shopping bill doubled while following this diet. This second book remedies this a little, but is still difficult for a family of 7 to keep following it.
Cheaper than the first, the meals are still amazing, although my weight loss has not been as dramatic. The biggest difference is the use of cheaper cuts of meat and fish. Following the suggested diet, I look forward to meals and feel so much more energised and healthy. This also incudes an exercise program with easy, effective esercises that do not requuire a gym full of equipment.
good ideas, beautiful receipes, even my 6' skinny partner liked them, BUT there is too much protein to eat comfortably and it is very expensive to but all the food required.
Noticed a small weight loss, but took too much thinking, and you are always thinking of what to eat next.
The food was good, but expensive and some of the ingredients hard to find. It stressed me out trying to follow it, but while we were doing it our health probably did improve.
