Inside Create Your Own Christmas Scene , you'll find a wonderful way to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas by creating a handknit nativity scene complete with Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, an angel and star, the three wise men and their gifts, the shepherds and their sheep, and the ox and ass. Also included is a cardboard pullout featuring a crib you can cut out and construct, as well as a three-sided manger backdrop for your nativity scene.
Just got this for Christmas, haven't made anything yet, but I already love it. It tells the Christmas story, in addition to the patterns, and has a cut out stable at the back. It also looks like it's going to be a great way to get rid of all the odds and ends in my stash!
A wonderful little holiday knitting book. It alternates short chapters of the Christmas story with patterns for figures in the scene (i.e. the story for following the star, paired with patterns for the three magi). And it even comes with a fold-out manger and backdrop! I haven't knit anything yet, so can't speak to the clarity of the instructions, but they look clear and cover a lot of details involved with dollmaking, so that's a plus. I am planning to make these over the next few years, adding a few figures each year. We'll see how they go! Overall, though, I'm glad I picked it up for my personal knitting library.
This book not only has you create the animals and people for the Christmas story but also tells the story starting with the Angel appearing to Mary telling her of her pregnancy. It makes it an extra special addition to your holiday library.
The instructions are easy to follow and often accompanied by pictures. This is a great way to use up your knitting stash. The only crochet you need will be a single chain stitch.
From the smallest lamb to the Wise Men, each figure from the traditional Nativity scene is a part of this book, down to the Star that guides the Wise Men.
The knit figures will be soft but there are instructions on where to put the wires so the figures can stand and hold their shape when you display them.
Very cute knitting book with lovely pictures and little stories. Can't say anything about the quality of the patterns yet. Will do that once I've knitted something from the book.
