The first single story sees Molly cast adrift during a battle and forcibly enrolled into a street gang! The main story 'Parental Guidance' sees a get-out clause set-up by Alex bring more strife and danger to the Runaways. By now the series is buzzing, the characters are fully realised and the reader cares about them all. 8 out of 12, best volume so far.

The new Pride reveals itself with serious repercussions for the team. I don't really want to give much away from that story. Also included was a single issue story about Molly that is one of my favorites. She is captured by a Fagin type who is forcing children to steal for him or he'll turn them to stone. Vaughan has a great ear for children's dialogue. Alphona's art is starting to shift to his current style which I can't stand. Bodies are becoming freakishly tall with extended limbs and necks while short characters have no neck and huge heads. Christina Strain does her usual spectacular coloring job to hide a lot of Alphona's squigly art. There's also an Runaways / X-Men meetup with just awful art by Scottie Young. It's so flat and amorphous. I can't tell much of what's going on. I'm glad he later found the style he used on his Oz and Fairyland books.

I'm beginning to see the hints of the great stuff I will later see in Saga. Some bits are obvious, others are quite subtle. Both are pretty great.

The story in this volume is both cute, dangerous, and pretty fantastic as well as sad. I'm glad I stuck with the comic long enough to get here. :)

Book 15 of 2019.

Another superb volume of Runaways! Be warned, though, if you care about any of these characters, this book will break your smegging heart! It still hurts to read the ending of this one... >sniff<...

In Volume 6, the Runaways find out who has been leading the new Pride which has been keeping tabs on them and lose one of their members in a nasty confrontation with their enemies. While I liked the confrontation and the problems it presents for the Runaways, there was too much teen drama in this one for me. Worth reading for the changes it brings to the team but not my favorite in the series.

Whoopsie I've already read this...I think I read it in an omnibus format, and that's why I didn't recognize it. But worth checking out if you have not read this series.

Solid and expected emotional end.

World: The art for this arc was better than the rest so far, we are moving more and more towards Kamala Khan Alphona art with the beautiful facial expressions and visual storytelling. The world building was solid and unexpected and set the stage for some nice little character moments in the overall story.

Story: Solid and fast paced. The first story is absolutely a delight and the rest of the tale was what you expected and what we did not. I did not expect that villain and it made it interesting and put a twist to the expected tale. The dialog was strong and the little character moments made the story more than it was. The end was telegraphed so it did lose some of the emotional impact. Solid.

Characters: Strong and great banter. Everyone is fully developed and real and the dynamic is just as good. Adding new characters and pieces was great giving a new flavour to the group. The villains were interesting and unexpected allowing for some interesting interactions.

Solid and emotional although the end was way too telegraphed.

Onward to the next book!

Runaways is one of my favorite series and I love the way the story is playing out. It did make me cry a little bit when arsenic/Gertrude died! I love this series and I feel like it can only get better! I don’t know what will happen with Chase in control of Old Lace. I do feel like it will be some major excitement through the next volumes. Even if no more is made I feel like what is still out there is all I need to read but I do feel like there could definitely be more if they’re feeling up to it!

What can you do when the past return to take revenge? Well, maybe you will try to fix it as soon as you can and be loyal to you mates, Right? This isn't exactly what happen here, we have, as in other numbers, a little hormonal thing happen around that, at her age, only can finish with a fight. When they "fix" that thing the story continue as good as always.

This number is the one that significances a point of break in the life of these guys, yes, the first issue was that too but, How can you continue when all this thing happen? How can you do without break your soul? In one moment they accepts that all is falling apart, if that's already happening, how can they survive with what happened?

I'm not gonna say more, this number was really good, sad, annoying by moments, but also really great.

A member of the Pride, yep the villains from the first volume, comes back to try and gain power again.

So I'll be honest, this volume at first felt kind of disjointed and all over the place. I mean, don't get me wrong, I was enjoying it but it just felt like Brian K Vaughn was retreading an old storyline a bit, and instead of having our team face a new villain, he pulls someone from the Pride again. Which the way it's done is interesting, but ultimately, the same type of story kind of. Where BKV really got me, and I suspect everyone else, is the last two issues.

First we get the return of

Secondly

Overall, an emotional ride, this really felt like a precursor to Saga and the other emotionally character driven story of BKV's career after Runaways. Highly recommended for fans of the series.

Goddamnit Runaways, toying with my feelings like that! Honestly, everything in this volume was unexpected and quite emotionally charged. The reveal of who the mystery character trying to revive The Pride is was a disappointment even though it was a nice surprise that actually made better sense.

Then, there is that ending... My favourite character I thought was written out in the last volume makes a comeback, and like the sacrificial lamb that's required by the Gibborim, another is offered up by Brian K Vaughan. And this time he isn't joking. RIP, unexpected deceased Runaway - you deserved better but what repercussions your death is going to have! It's definitely a game-changer that will shake up the Runaways, and I'm dying to know what the future holds.

This story had some great developments that I was not expecting, in terms of both plot and character development. There was more focus on Molly that emphasized how behind her childlike-demeanor/behavior, she is very intelligent and able to effectively strategize and execute plans; this is especially true in the mini-story that opens the volume. Karolina's return to the group with her fiancee Xavin in tow was also a welcome change; she very much is the heart of the group and provides a peaceful/optimistic view to the group. The new Pride hinted at in earlier issues is revealed to be Geoffrey Wilder, Alex's dad pulled from the past by his misguided MMRPG friends and seeking to bring the wife and child lost/never had. A huge development in this story is the death of Gertrude, something I thought impossible since we'd seen her future self in an earlier volume. Touching on this, a big theme in this volume is the issue of choice and destiny, and which one impacts and accurately defines the future. Gertrude's death, and the subsequent negation of that future (perhaps also brought about/avoided through the incorporation of Victor into the group), suggests that it's choice that shapes the future. But the existence of the Abstract, the tome that shows the past and future of the Pride and the events/people surrounding it, suggest otherwise. The book's presence implies that the future is written and something set that is readable and able to be followed. Whether the book changes depending on actions is something that hasn't been made clear yet. Following Gertrude's death and an argument with Nico, Chase and Old Lace have left the group with Abstract and decoder ring in hand. I'm interested to see how the group will be affected by the loss of two key, original members, how the different factions will fare, and if we'll find out more about the Abstract.

This review contains vague, non-specific, mild spoilers.

Wow, some momentous stuff definitely went down in this volume! Unexpected plot twists, a surprising battle with a familiar baddie, and some genuine emotional impact for our heroes makes this an excellent entry in the overall series. I'm bumping it down to four stars, though, instead of five because some of the setup for the baddie's plan seemed muddled and confusing to me. It wasn't clear if the plan was intentional or a happy accident, and if it was the former, it feels extremely implausible (and it wasn't explained very well). I found myself flipping back and forth quite a bit to try to piece it together. I also am starting to really dislike "The Abstract," which is the decode-able book The Pride has which both records their history and also forecasts the future. It feels like it's just not working at all as a plot tool because it's mostly wrong when it's referenced, but it is still somehow perceived as this powerful artifact. It feels like another "sounds neat!" idea that probably should've been smoothed out more in the writers' brainstorming session because it keeps painting them into a corner as the story unfolds. These are minor complaints, however. I was really caught up in the story and eager to see what's next. I just placed an order at my library for the next three last night, and now I have to wait impatiently for Volume 7. Come on, library! Move it! What's with the unseemly delay?!?

No... nooo... why?! So not fair...
But it was really nice to have some questions answered, especially since they had been growing for a few volumes now, and that issue seemed to have been wrapped up
I'm looking forward to continue reading, but also really scared about what the series will become now...

A Runaway returns, and another may be resurrected? A new Pride comes into play but they're not what they seem. Another great installment by Vaughan and Alphona. Nice blend of humor, teen angst, heroics, and tough choices.

Man, Vaughan is not afraid to just kill off characters which is actually great, because there are actual stakes resulting in real character investment. The first issue is all Molly and a bit of a strange one-off, but fun. It's great to start off with such a fun story, since the rest of the volume gets darker.

Karolina is brought back into the story along with another character who was previously deceased, yep the PRIDE is back! *sort of*
