It's South Bay High's finest, Jayd Jackson, and its coolest white boy, Jeremy Weiner, are a couple. And if that's not enough interracial drama for South Bay's mostly white, wealthy student body, Jayd and her bold, beautiful, black renaissance crew have more on the way. . .
Friends and teachers at South Bay High may be hating, but Jayd and Jeremy are falling in love, and if anyone has a problem with their happiness, especially an ex who's back in Jayd's life aiming to sweep her off her feet--well, that's no surprise. This is Drama High after all. And Jayd is no stranger to controversy--it's in her blood, and it seems it's in her girl Nellie's blood too.
Homecoming is just around the corner, and South Bay High has never had a black princess, queen, or royalty of any kind for any event. But that's about to change. The Drama Club is sponsoring Nellie to run for the junior class, hoping to give the Cheerleaders and Athletes a run for their money. If Nellie wins, she'll make history. In fact, Nellie is so deep in the zone, Jayd's afraid she'll forget to watch her back because the students of South Bay are serious about their crowns. As Nellie's chances for victory heat up, so does the hostility from the smartass opposition. Nellie may be flying too high to notice, but Jayd can see the drama coming. And as usual, she's on it--with a little help from her magical Mama and her mystical ancestors, of course.

i chose to read this book because i read the last to books of the series. This book is about a girl named jay'd who goes to a high school filled with drama and problem starters . And, since shes datting a white boy with a bad rep that makes ppl even more interested in her buiness but on top of that shes trying to managage her best friend nilies homecoming princess campain even though she knows it wont be easy . and, even though she tries to prepare nielle for what may and is most likely to happen she doesnt listen and is letting this campain thing go to her head and theres a new kid who comes to there school who jayd happens to know because he was her ex bf's best friend at her old school .. and after she starts talking to him again she starts going to their town and hanging out with her ex. and, even though her bf jeremey acts like he doesnt care she can tell he really does. and, the competion with nielle gets so bad that girls actually pretended to be her friend and took pictures of her in the locker room and sent them around the school. I liked this book for the most part even tho there are some dull sections that kind of made me want to stop reading it.
in the book "Jayd's Legacy" jayd has it both ways. She has her boyfriend jeremy who she thinks she loves very much. just when everything was going so well raheem comes back into jayd's life. raheem was jayd's first kiss, first love, first everything. jayd still feels something for raheem but of course she doesn't tell jeremy. She has to chose which one she wants. if she doesn't she'll just be playing both of them. you can't have it best of both worlds. choosing may seem very easy but it's not. when you have two good people you have to think very hard. I think jayd should leave jeremy and go with raheem. raheem has more in common with jayd. they've been threw everything together. the first time it didn't work out for them. maybe it's a sign for them to be together. it's not every day you get a second chance.
Love it. I can't stop reading it whatsover. Once I finish, I read it again. L.Divine keeps teens like myself on the edge of our seats, and wanting more with ever page. Miss. Divine is a master storyteller. This novel like the first two in tehr series i have read were on point. Although I do get a bit disgruntled at the hazing subject matter but overall a lovely novel. I can't wait for the next book!
Jayd’s Legacy Jayd has a dream about Chance and Nellie (who are on the Homecoming court) getting blasted on the field by paintball guns. On the way to school, Jayd and Jeremy discuss Nellie’s decision to be nominated for Homecoming Princess. They both agree that the people at their school can’t be trusted. Jayd tells him about how she was in Student Government but how they all turned on her. Chance and Matt wanna meet with Nellie to go over tactics to get her on the ballad at lunch. So, Jayd passes on the message. Nellie gets a little annoyed with Mickey because she could give an ish about all the homecoming fuss. Jayd finds out in class that an old friend Nigel has transferred there to play quarterback and he says his friend Raheem has a note for her. Just what she needs more drama!
The nominations are announced. Nellie’s name is on the list. But then Jeremy’s ex's (Tanya’s) name is also called. Jayd talks to her girls after with a request to pump Nigel for info about the letter. Jayd wants to know if Raheem is still feelin’ her. Since Nellie says she’s too busy with homecoming worries, Mickey agrees to do it. While talking over her day with (ima call her) “Big Momma” we learn that Raheem and Jayd had a thing .. that is until he knocked up one of her cousin in the ninth grade. Jayd confides to “Big Momma” she’d worried that Nigel will mess up her relationship, but “Momma,” tells her she’s the one in control. Then she tells her the story of her parents.
Jayd’s power is visions and dreams. “Big Momma” also tells her she has the power to call on ancestors. “Big Momma” warns Jade that she should find out what Raheem wants before it interferes with her relationship. Then she gives her an assignment from the story. After a week passes, Jayd finally gets the letter. It just says he misses her and to call him. When they meet up again, Nellie tells the others her campaign is going slow. She needs a manager. Reid’s girlfriend Laura’s posters are plastered all over the school. The Drama Club is sponsoring her and well they’re not really influenced. Jayd wants to know what Nigel had to say and Nellie says he invited her to the studio that night and that he misses her. Jayd says Jeremy wouldn’t be cool with it. Mickey thinks she should reach out. Nellie says she should stay away from drama. Nellie bugs Jayd until she agrees to be her campaign manager. She says that maybe when she goes to her mom’s she can hang with Raheem and Nigel for a bit. Then Jayd school’s them about westingle guys when they wanna know what’s so special about Nigel and Raheem. Jeremy then shows up and Jayd and he heads out. Jayd gives him ish about something she found out earlier (he says he’s not going to the dance) and he tells her it’s personal.
We find out that there’s a lot of bad blood between Reid’s family and Jeremy’s family and out of loyalty to his brothers he can’t attend anything thrown by Reid. So, Jayd decides to kick it with Raheem and Nigel. When she sees Raheem again, old feelings surface but she tells herself (and makes it clear) that she and Raheem will not be getting back together. After some brief catching up, Nigel (always wanting to start ish) tells Raheem Jayd likes to “dip in vanilla” and this gets into the whole issue again she’s dating a white boy. Raheem just says if he’s treating her good that’s all that matters. Nigel is disappointed. Jayd doesn’t know what to make of his response.
At work, Jayd wonders how she can use her so-called “power” to convince Jeremy to take her to the dance. She attempts to be sweet and asks again but he is adamant that he is *not* going. He tells her if she can’t respect that he doesn’t want to go then she’s just gonna have to deal with it. But Jayd is determined to get him to take her. She also has to figure out a way to tell him about the studio by Monday before Nigel tells and Misty finds out. Jayd finds her perfect dress at the mall. Jeremy gives her a yellow rose when she comes out the dressing room and tries it on. Raheem calls later. We get a little more of their history. Raheem dumped her cousin after he fooled around with her and he and Jayd stayed together a year after that. Now he’s on her case about her relationship. Blah! Blah! Blah! He talks some noise about how much he misses her and wants to start over as “friends”. Then he says he’ll be at the Homecoming. When he finds out Jeremy won’t be there, he uses the opportunity to trash-talk him until Jayd ends the call.
On of her coworkers suggests she take someone else to the dance. So Jayd asks him and he’s like ok. Which surprises Jayd. “Big Momma” suggests Jayd find someone more amicable to go with so she won’t pit Raheem and Jeremy against each other. When Jeremy and Jayd get to school, Jeremy tells her she’s playing games. She’s really not gonna take someone to the dance. But she says she *really* is. They part and Jayd goes to look for Nigel and her girls. Nellie confronts her on the dance drama. Then Jayd finds out KJ and Misty are going to the dance together.
Jayd decides she’ll ask Nigel to the dance. He says he’ll keep their secret. Nellie shows signs that she’s into Nigel. He’s more into Mickey, Miss Toni tells what she knows (which isn’t a lot) about the older brother’s feud (Weiner and Redid) The Drama Club has a meeting and decides to do a spoof on the athletes and cheerleaders. Chance says they should do something original. He says they should do a skit clowing the ASB’s campaign and follow it up with a rap. Jayd and Chance will perform “Can I Get A “ by Jay Z. Jeremy gets up and leaves the meeting. Nellie doesn’t want any parts of it.
Later they all go out for pizza. Jayd finds out that Christi and Ted used to date in high school and that Christi and Micheal almost died in a car accident. Ted was suspected of being involved. Nellie suggests Chance and Jayd go to dance together. Jeremy doesn’t look happy with this (later he says it’s because Jayd and Chance both had crushes on each other). Jayd says she might already have a date. So she suggests Nellie and Chance go. Nellie says she thought she was hooking her up with a friend, but Jayd says he’s taken. Nellie won’t let it go. Nellie gets a little salty and actually says it’s Nigel they're talking about. So, Jayd has to explain how they go way back and it wouldn’t be a date. Jeremy asks does Jayd know Nigel and she admits she does from way back. Nellie apologizes. On the way home, Jayd and Jeremy discuss honesty and secrets. Jeremy confesses his feelings about her and Chance. Jayd confesses to have hung out with Nigel and “another old friend”. Jeremy says he doesn’t care about that. He cares that she kept it from him. They promise no more secrets. Jayd vows to herself not to get into any more situations.
Jayd goes to another session. Nigel even though he thinks it’s temporary invites Jeremy to a session. (Raheem isn’t as cool about it). Jayd’s mom gets on her because she hasn’t be taking her studies serious. She says she use to have the sight but because she didn’t take it serious she lost it. She said it’s time for Jayd to get serious because “Big Momma” will test her soon and she might be the one to break their curse of failed relationships. Jeremy takes Jayd to a homecoming party. Tanya is there drunk. Jeremy surprises Jayd by saying it was just a physical thing. Jayd surprises him by saying she’s a virgin. Nellie has decided to go with Chance. Jayd questions their differences, but Jeremy says she’s the perfect fit for him and surprises her with the dress she saw in the mall. But he’s marked her up and now she’ll be chewed out by “Big Mama.”
Jayd sees a vulgar picture of Nellie in an email. Misty sees it too. Misty seems to be on her side and says they should see who has the most to gain by it. Misty says they should get all the athletes to put their ears to the ground. Misty wants Nellie win too because she’s black. They agree to find Seth and get him to take the picture down. Tanya asks Jeremy if he’s checked his email. So, Jayd decides to check her. She makes it clear she’s on Reid’s girlfriend’s side (Laura who's white). Jayd snatches her phone and smashes it to the ground. Jeremy pulls her away while Tanya is on the ground. He has to drag her out while she’s yelling trying to get her to confess. Nellie and Mickey are outside and Jayd has to drop the news to Nellie. Nellie doesn’t have a clue who could have done it. Jayd thinks it’s Tanya. Jeremy says they don’t know that.
Jsyd tells “Big Mama” she’s decided to go to the dance solo. Jayd finally does her assignment and finds out her great-grandmother cheated on her husband with a white man because he was controlling and possessive. Jayd wants to know why she didn’t just leave. “Big Mama,” says that’s just what you did for the community so she stayed. Jayd tells her about Nellie but “Big Mama” says she’s on her own with that one. She tells her to call on her powers and her path will be clear. She tells her to separate herself from the equation. She tells her to write down her great-grandmother's bath prescription and gets on her for not recording her dreams. In the hallway, Ried and Jayd have a confrontation. She accuses him and his girlfriend of having something to do with the pictures. The crowd goes APE ISH over Jayd and Chance’s performance. Jeremy ditches for the beach.
Jayd has a dream that night of her and Raheem at the homecoming dance slow dancing and kissing. Before the awards ceremony. Jayd catches p with Jeremy and he puts it to her to just not go to the dance and hang with him, but she’s not hearing that. He tells her she has to make up her mind if he’s enough for her. Jayd’s grandmother on the night of Homecoming gives Jayd special jade bracelets and explains the powers they process. At the dance, after they win, Misty says she can’t find anything to hold Tanya accountable and she wants to know how she knows something will happen. Jayd tells her to let her know when she sees someone change into hooded shirts. Jayd also tells Rah to be on the lookout. Nellie’s name is called. Rag rushes the perpetrators and directs their aim toward Laura. The gunman rushes off the field and isn’t caught.
Jayd and Rah take a walk after the game and he tries to hold her hand. He tells her he’s seeing someone but he thinks they should still be able to be in love but date other people. But Jayd lets him know where she stands. Mickey and Nigel miss the dance because they’re getting high in his car Raheem tries to start some shit with Jeremy and invites him to a session. So they go to the session. Only Rah’s girl is there. Jayd is instantly jealous and thinks she’s a skank. They all get high (except Jayd and Rah’s girl) and watch Scarface. Rah and Jeremy bump heads over the movie and selling weed to survive versus having money and selling weed. Jayd gets her man outta there for it turns heated. In the car, Jayd confesses Ra is her ex and as expected Jeremy is cool with it. He tells her he loves her. In fact, he suspected it. Raheem tho shows up at Jayd’s job and ends up kissing her leaving Jayd confused. Jayd has this dream that Tanya told her she was moving to be with her husband and she has adoption papers to give to Jeremy.
My Thoughts: While I do enjoy seeing something new in an African American series (Big Mama’s instance that Jayd be serious about her spell work and learning her history and the rituals of her ancestors), I think I’m kinda getting over the whole “He’s a white boy. Are you kidding me Jayd? You need to be with a black man” thing. REALLY? Cause look at the black men who’ve wanted her so far. KJ was a CHEATER! Raheem is a CHEATER! Nigel is a CHEATER. And these are the black men she’s supposed to choose instead of Jeremy? WHAT THE HELL FOR? I think you should be in love but be free to date other people (Raheem) I never heard of such BS! Raheem is probably one of those guys that will down the line convince some woman to have an open marriage. Jayd also irritated me because here we go. Another book where the girl acts like the Homecoming dance is EVERY THING (just like in the Princess Diaries) and blows it up to something that really ISNT A BIG DEAL. Now, I DO remember going to Homecoming stuff at my high school and YES it was kinda fun. We had different theme days. We have a parade (that day was REALLY fun because no one was in class and everyone was outside in the parking lot working on the car decorations). I don’t really remember much about the choosing of the Queen and King. I think they were picked at halftime. We didn’t have a dance but had I had a boyfriend at the time, he didn’t want to go to it (or the game itself) and he said “I’m not feeling all this. Let’s do something else just you and me.” I’m pretty sure I would have been fine with it. Because being seen just really doesn’t (and didn’t) matter to me. I’ve always kinda marched to my own drummer. That’s why it annoys me when in books, the girl acts like her life is over if she can’t go to the prom or some school dance. I just can NOT relate to it. But I *can* see how being a court princess could get you all caught up. Although, Nelllie tended to talk a *lil* bit too much. I wasn’t really impressed with Nigel. He screws around with Mickey in the car after the game getting high (and no telling what else). He has a girl but then Mickey has a man. So, I guess I really didn’t think anything of Nigel at all. He was just “background noise”. He seemed to like to be “the instigator”. I REALLY didn’t think anything of Raheem. Another guy in Jayd’s ever growing mix of guys who are on some player bs and trying to win her back because they think she should be with them just because their black (ROLLS MYEYES)

I have read Drama High: Jayd’s Legacy (Drama High series Book 3) so many times. I’m happy that Goodreads allows me to expression my feelings and understanding about this book. I understand that teenagers can be difficult to listening but they are caring and respectful at the same time. Drama High: Jayd’s Legacy (Drama High series Book 3) by L. Divine is reminded me of Degrees High but it’s a good and an amazing story. L. Divine did an amazing job.
Jayd is a different, independent, leader and respectful. She and Jeremy are officially couple but they can’t have their peaceful without drama. Jayd’s and Jeremy have their own similarities and differences. I wish Jeremy should show his more interesting and spend more his time with Jayd at the homecoming. I understand that he wants Jayd to be honest with him about Rah and Nigel but he wasn’t honest with her about Tania. I believe that Jeremy is jealous about Rah and Jayd’s friendship connection.
Nellie is a drama queen, jealous and complaining too much. I cannot to be friend with her because she’s judgmental. She wants to be popular and connected with other people beside Mickey and Jayd. Her quote, “This is not all about Jayd.” When she starts hanging out with Tania and other homecoming queens 👸🏽, she’s totally different toward Mickey and Jayd.
Mickey and Nigel are cute together but they’re playing dangerous game with their current relationship. Rah needs to leave Jayd alone and allows her to be happy with Jeremy.
I can’t wait to reread Drama High series Book 4.

This book is about a teenage girl name jayd who goes through drama at her new school. She’s dating a white boy name jeremy and he has a bad reputation. She has crazy dreams about her friends being in trouble and she tries yo find a way to keep them from happening. One of her friends from her old school transferred to her new school and they have been hanging out and she forgot to tell jeremy and her old friend is trying to get her back with her ex Raheem but she doesn’t want him back even though she does. Her grandma gets on her about her family assignments but jayd forgets because she’s in drama. Jeremy won’t take her to the dance because his family and the guy who runs the dance family don’t get along and she wants to know the problem but he won’t tell her. Also Raheem keep making a pass at jayd trying to get her back but she tries to push him away even though she doesn’t want too.
Jayd's Legacy by L. Divine was an interesting book because the main character Jayd discovers her destiny. When her grandmother explains Jayd's legacy to her she finally understands why weird things happen to her, like how her mother always knew what she was thinking. Jayd attends South Bay High School, where drama is thrown left and right to her and her friends. Although it is pretty stressful, they get through it together and have each others backs. Amongst all the drama Jayd is falling in love with her boyfriend, Jeremy, but Jeremy's baby's mother stopped at nothing to ruin their relationship. Jayd and Jeremy stayed strong together, all his baby's mother did was bring them closer together.
This book is basically about an High School homecoming which South Bay has never had a black princess or queen for any event. Based on this story you would read about a young girl named Jayd and Nellie going against each other for the crown. This story i could relate towards it because many people in high school are willing to compete for the crown in homecoming of prom.
With the way Nellie was acting, I thought she was gonna lose the election. I didn’t even want her to win. I feel like Nellie won for the plot. I kinda wanted Jayd to be the nominee. I think it would fit her character. There wasn’t enough petty drama for me.
I thought this book was very good and what happens between Jay'd Jeremy and Rah wow what she does like really Jay'd but this is still a good book. Between Nellie Mickey and Nigel Drama!
The purpose of the author writing this book was to give the audience a good drama to read. It is something that could happen to anyone; mostly teens. For example, Jayd not being able to hang around Raheem because it will bring up old feelings. That is an everyday event for teens nowadays. Also how Jayd was helping her friend Nellie with the homecoming campaign and all the beef that is included between competing campaigns. But this book is not a book that will have a lasting value to it. It is something you read, get into, and just finish. Then you move on the next book of the series. The series on the other hand might have a lasting value to it, but I have not finished all the books of the series.
The book is very well written. The dialogue is just how kids talk to their friends now. "That heffa! If she thinks she's gonna push up on him, that hoe got another thing cumin!" Kids now always say things like that. It goes into detail with all the things a female has to go through to prepare for homecoming as well. "Jayd! My makeup is falling!" yelled Nellie. In this scene, Nellie was freaking out about what her dress would look like on homecoming night. She could picture herself doing that. I can picture half of my friends doing that.
I myself can not relate to any of the characters, but as I said, I have friends that could relate very well. But I never found myself bored with the book. Most people could probably relate the characters of the story. Most people could also probably relate to setting and the atmosphere of the story. The story was very well written.
The different cliques, the cool table, the jocks, the thespians... all of these different things could help see what is going on in the story and that would have to be the greatest strength of the story; also the dialogue. The plot of the story played a role in making the story stronger as well because teens can relate. The plot is what keeps the reader reading. A girl who is having mixed emotions about her first love and her current love. People just being human crave drama. "I have to do it girl." cried Jayd to Mickey. In this scene, Jayd is crying to Mickey that she might have to let Jeremy go because she can not deny her feelings for Raheem any longer. She has to make a decision. The greatest weakness of the story would be it's ending. It had one of those to be continued endings. Those are pretty annoying to anyone really. Some people just want a solid ending to the story. Some do not want to have to go pick an entire new book just to find how the one before it is going to end. But that might happen when you start in the middle of the series. :)
I would definitely recommend this book because it was a good book. It keeps you wanting to read more and find out what is going to happen and what is going to be Jayd's big decision. It was one of those dramas where you just can not put down the book. It is juicy, drama-filled, and jsut awesome. Anyone can get into the book. It is not like it is only for a certain group of people. It can be for anyone. Overall, great book! :)
I have not quite grasp this book when i read it the first time.It was during the summer and it was my last book to read. Now that I am reading it again i do get it.Mostly its all about drama in Jayd's life, dealing with one of her best friend's campaign of becoming homecoming princess, balancing an ex-boyfriend when balancing a new boyfriend and her family's history of majic and spirits, but not the voodoo type.
Jayd recently has been going to her ex-boyfriend's house(I know, its ridiculous) vibing to the potential music/rapper producer music buisness. She recently has been feeling Raheem(her ex).I dont blame her,the way she describes him,i might want to get back with him too.But the way he has treated her in the past, definitley might be a turn off.Jayd needs to know that she can not have the best of both worlds.Everybody has to give up something in order to follow on the direct path that her grand mother(which she calls mama) wants her to follow in the Williams womenn legacy.I hope Jayd decides to go down the right path to follow the Williams women legacy instead of her social life. Her social life will always be there but her history she may never get to know. My advice for Jayd is to think seriously about which path will have an effect on her if she chooses the right one.Peace out/
This book was about how Jayd was trying to help her friend Nellie win the homecoming crown. But she also had to deal with her own problems like her new boyfriend Jeremy he's the rich boy at the school who usually gets what he wants...Jayd finds out that he a sales and got busted at school....all because of Misty MOUTH.....But she never thought she would date the white boys at the school but she really thinks he's the one for her although she haves alot of haters and everyone keeps telling her he not the right one for her but as everyone does...she wants to learn from herself..but everything was starting to fall apart...and Right when she thinks problems can't get worse her ex-boyfriend steps back into her life from back in the old days even before kj. I gave this book a 4 star rating because it is so life like it tells and says everything that a normal things that would happen to girls and her relationships.
In this lovely book by L. Divine, Jayd finds herself in many situations. In the book Jayd's Legacy (Drama High #3) Jayd Jackson finds herself one of the luckiest girl in the world, she's dating the it's coolest white boy Jeremy Weiner while attending South Bay High. South Bay High may be a little against that decision but that won't stop the drama that's about to stir up while reading this book. Jayd's Legacy would leave you wondering what would happened and at the edge of your seat. L. Divine really done a good job with the creativity side of this book. Enjoyable book to read that would leave you breathless.
Still loving Jade. I thought this was the last book in the series, but there is more! This one features homecoming and Jayd's problem with her boyfriend who doesn't want to take her because of some old family rivalry. She also gets a blast from the past when Nigel comes to her school who was best friends with her old boyfriend rah who still makes her swoon. Inner Conflict! Prom! Hurray! Hurrah!

Drama High: Jayd's Legacy is a very great book! This book is full of hate, drama, friends, and family! This is one book I definitely recommend.
High School homecoming is coming up! Nellie is running for homecoming queen and she is so close to getting that crown. Her friend Jayd is worried about her because Nellie is so worried about the crown, that she's not worried about the people on her every move. Because people want those crowns and want to become queen and king, they will do anything for it! They just have to watch their backs!
This really isn't my first time reading the series. Jayd is a typical teenager whose life has so many ups and downs. Jayd attends high school with her friends nellie mickey and nigel and chance. But jayd life isn't so typical. Jayd and her family believes in spirit. Attending a school where there are so many diverse groups. Jayd and her crew are part of South Central which is mainly african american students. Jayd faces many challenges which causes her make some really hard decisions

This Book Is Really Good. I Like The Way The Book Keeps Getting Better and Better. This Book Makes You Want To Keep Reading Until It Is Finished And You Found Out What Happened To The Main Character Jayd. Jayd As The Main Character Helped Me To Relate To The Book Because I am Also A Teen Who Goes Through A lot of Things Just Like Jayd. Every Teen Girl Should Read It.
This book kept me wanting more.I couldn't stop reading it I finished it in 3 days!I was on the edge of my seat...the Drama was never ending. This book really shows you what teens have to go through and how they have to deal with family, and school. good[besides the supernatural stuff]. The quotes before every chapter really was relateable to the story line.
I learned from this book is know how to deal with highschool. There can be fun times there can be good times. Also highschool is never the same how are parents describe it.Of course the promblems are but not the people.

This book is about when homecoming is coming up and The Drama Club is sponsoring Nellie to run for the junior class homecoming princess, hoping to give the Cheerleaders and Athletes a run for their money.
