In order to avoid an arranged marriage to a much-despised older man, Angilee Rosslyn hires Kyger Galliard to take her virginity, and they both get more than they bargained for when one night of incredible passion leads to danger and betrayal in a world where nothing is what it seems. Original. 35,000 first printing.
Thea Devine is the author of eighteen historical romances and four novellas, including her contributions to the Brava anthologies Captivated, Fascinated, and, most recently, All Through the Night. Devine lives with her husband of 35 years in Ridgefield, Connecticut.
I wasn't into the story at first because I thought it would be another mindless erotica tale with no real storyline, but once I realized it was a thriller with erotic twists, I couldn't put it down. I've read it at least three times and it gets better every time. Love the main character Kyger, very sexy and mysterious at first then shows his weaknesses and vulnerability when it came to Angilee.
This book was oh so poor. Everything about it was horrible, the plot, the characters, even the cover is horrid. Three hours of my life I wont be getting back any time soon.
Really 4.5 stars, but could not go to 5. Thea Devine has a knack for writing dark mysterious stories where events lead to a conclusion I would not expect. Kyger Galliard is Lujan's brother, from "Satisfaction" where this unusual family is revealed, with all its bad karma. Lujan and Jancie have married and had a child, and Kyger has returned from wandering the continent, aimless and depressed. Lujan steers him to a government contact that requires an undercover investigator. The story is complicated, and Kyger fumbles through it, which kept it from five stars. He acts at times like he is drugged, and his self talk was a little annoying. Be that as it may, he is still an appealing man and his connection with the American heiress, Angilee Rosslyn, is a unique story. Her father has brought her to London to find a titled husband, but his choice is repugnant to her. She leads her own adventure trying to avoid this mismatch, leading her into Kyger's arms. Love the book.
This is the sequel to Satisfaction. The first book barely brought me around to liking Kyger's brother he was an absolute creep but appeared to be redeeming himself. Apparently, not. This book really disappointed me. Days later I was still pissed off, stewing over this story. The ending sucked and left far too many questions unanswered. I have decided to quite reading Thea Devine, and subsequently, got rid of her books. Extreme maybe, but I don't like the way her books leave me feeling...dark and dirty. No feeling, just abuse.
Thea Devine isn't for everybody, but she's definitely for me. Her prose is always excellent, and she does a great job in this book. I liked Sensation better than Satisfaction simply because I found the story more gripping, very eerie, and quite different. This book isn't for the ill-hearted or those who are seeking a traditional sappy romance.
