Stop this way actually really sweet! I really liked the characters and the art was lovely, unfortunately it was a bit short and the story lacked on deepness (it was more like sweet porn with plot, i do not complain ). But I‘m der glad I picked this one up, I had a great time reading it. Just wished it would have a sequel 🥹💓
This was actually pretty cute. I liked the art style and the story and characters were interesting. I am curious to see if there will be another volume.
It's about a thief who saves a beast person from being sold off as a slave. He has to take care of him until they can get a boat to send him back to his home, but as the two get to know each other better it becomes a choice of pursuing this romance or letting each other go.
The romance was cute, but it went a little fast. Didn't love the ambiguous middle eastern vibes of this. Like it was set in the desert and it was clearly supposed to give Middle East, but it was all stereotypes and idk something about it felt bad lol. Idk I liked the parts that involved the two mcs and their romance, but the fantasy of this was just not that well developed and it was doing too much. It was fine. I probably won't remember it soon.
The cover is so misleading! Whenever I saw this manga, I loved the short page snapshots but the cover unfortunately made me reluctant since my family is conservative. It wasn’t until I properly saw the cover that I realized it’s a good illusion from a distance.
This story has a simple plot but it’s also a stretch to call it that. It is a chance meeting between Kalim and Asena with a sudden turn of events and emotions. There is a lot of potential to create and develop the plot as it depicts slavery, demi humans and poverty in a desert type setting. These are tough topics to justify and this manga lightly brushes on them without getting into too many details. A lot of the events and situations were more for convenience to progress the story than for a proper development.
That said, this manga’s main premise seems to be creating and developing the relationship between Kalim and Asena. It felt rushed and underdeveloped because there wasn’t a structured sequence of events or emotions. However by the end of this volume, they have a cute relationship and they know quite a bit about each other.
The setting is unique and I love how the manga doesn’t explain every detail. It depicts it throughout the story through the artwork and dialogues. I always appreciate works that take this approach because I think it’s a commendable attempt. However, that also means that we don’t know much about the setting or characters until later on so it can be hard to grab a reader’s attention. That said, since there isn’t a defined plot the setting isn’t critical or important. It’s nice to have in the kindest sense.
The main characters are both lovable. They have different personalities similar to that of a golden retriever puppy and a cautious black cat. I think this pairing worked well and it was adorable to see them both care about each other and open themselves up. There are a few other characters and although I couldn’t quite grasp their personalities, they were all kind hearted. I think it would have been interesting if their roles were expanded on a bit more and defined, so we could have a better grasp of the people surrounding Kalim and Asena.
The artwork is quite lovely. It’s clean and backgrounds are added in many places. It’s also quite descriptive including the facial expressions which makes it enjoyable to read. I liked the character designs because very few manga are set in a desert. That said, some of the clothes could be seen as a form of sexualizing the character however the manga doesn’t seem to encourage it that way. Neither do the characters.
A fair warning that this book does include topics such as slavery, poverty, drug use, attempted sexual abuse and more. I don’t usually write this but I understand these are sensitive topics; though it’s impossible for me to capture everything. So please do your research if any of these topics are uncomfortable to you. Also there is sexual content in this book, which is evident and expected from the cover.
Overall this was a good quick read with a focus on the main characters and their relationship. I think it’s good because it’s not plot heavy and sometimes that’s just the read needed for those tiring days. I loved the relationship between Kalim and Asena and I wish we could see their future together. I am interested to know what happens in their next chapter together and if they ever have babies! This is definitely not a read for everyone but I will be reading this in the near future.
I really enjoyed the story. Specifically the dynamic and the learning that comes from the beast and the human. Not only did they learn so much about each other but they also got the happy ending that they deserved. The artwork is absolutely phenomenal and I for some reason when I been off. I would love for the side character, who is the best friend to get his own partner. In a novel if that is not possible, that is OK just an idea.
I started this good reads account because of this manga, and oh my lord. For a little background. Im black, my sister picked this book out and I was hesitate to read it based on the cover but you know what they say, don’t judge a book by it’s cover, so I bought it. I Admit, There are some good points in this manga and like the other reviews I liked the romance but I could not get over the racist undertones that permeated this book. Why, from what i can see, are all the ‘beast’ dark skin? Why are characters calling him a dog, even though it is shown to the readers that Asena doesn’t like that (the bad guys as well as the ‘good’ guys call him that, and no calling him a puppy isn’t any better.). How they were created as sex objects primarily and is continued to be seen as one until the very end? I can tell that the author didn’t even think about the racial implications of making a dark skin character a ‘beast’ that can’t control their sexual urges. Like you don’t need to be black to know that all of these things are common lies and misconceptions believed and told about us. For all the good points of the beast having being very smart, kind, loving, interesting, and the main character growing to respect Asena and love him, theres always something in the manga that makes me realize that in this universe, he isn’t seen as equal despite being told that he is and should be. It was a hard read but i guess I’m glad I gave it a chance. I’ll be returning this book as soon as possible though.

In this manga, a thief steals a demihuman from an auction, and various things ensue.
Overall, it's solidly average, with some big plot holes and lackluster worldbuilding. Neither of the deuteragonists have that much characterization, and the world is also quite... poorly explained in general (it's trying to take place in a world where genetic manipulation was possible in the past and where medical syringes are in use but where people still use horses for 'fast' transportation). But the deuteragonists are cute, the art and writing are still fairly good (despite the flaws), and it was an enjoyable story.
3.5/5 because the epilogues absolutely do NOT help with closing the plot holes but rounding up since I'm still willing to purchase more books from this manga-ka.
This is a manga story of a Demi-Human male from an ancient race who is captured and being sold into slavery by awful people. He tries to escape and Kalim, a thief tries to help. At first he thought he was not but then, Kalim completely rescues him and brings him back to his boss. They decide to wait for the next boat. During that time, the Demi-human, Asena, goes into heat. Kalim cannot resist him. But Kalim is careful of his feelings. Slowly, they begin to care about each other. Until Asena leaves one night only to be immediately captured outside his door. Kalim, completely in love goes after him with his friend. I can't give up everything, can I? Loved this romantic, erotic tale of a beast from another country.
Flimsy plot with poor execution and it doesn't even look that good, it was quite disappointing to read. Mostly revolves around this blushing demi-human always in heat, and the human who obviously is the first who actually respected him.
I suppose it's nice how the titular beast doesn't actually get taken advantage of, but that's the only positive I can see, he's quick to warm up to them and forget his hometown.
I think the oddest thing about this lil story is how tone inconsistent the smut is with the rest of it?? This story has some interesting worldbuilding and a touching romance at the heart of it, and then the smut is like generic horny sluttiness. It’s not the first time I’ve encountered it but there was something here where I really felt the flip between the two.
Cute take on a sort of beastfolk-like omegaverse story. I really enjoyed the characters, especially that the main character was a "good" thief (I'm a sucker for Robin Hood type characters!). I liked Asena's feistiness too. I wish there had been more time/pages for more world building!
Felt a little fast-paced even by one shot standards. Has omegaverse elements to it. Cute story overall but definitely felt like it needed another chapter to give the story some breathing room.
The story is as contrived and full of exoticism as you'd expect from the blurb and cover but the art is great and puppy-boy Asena is undeniably gorgeous.
