Not for the fainthearted. A rather scathing review of American foreign policy by the former London Times foreign correspondent. This book was also re-titled Insanity 1967. As à propos today as it was 50 years ago.

Remarkable insight for someone who was wrong about so many things. It is difficult to read the writings of someone you disagree with on some fundamental levels. However, his complaint against the hypocrisy of the left-leaning western democracies, including the U.S., is unarguable. This is a class piece of history and whether you are a student of the Cold War or more specifically the African nationalist movements of the 1960s you will find some things of interest in this book.

It was written in 1966, and is basically white colonialist propaganda…Discusses how the white man needs to save Africa, and how Ian Smith was basically helping Rhodesia. Was written in an extremely patronising way, didn’t enjoy the author trying to prove himself and his credentials to be writing about Rhodesia.

An extraordinary book. This book could have dates and places changed and it would fit what is happening today in various western countries. The writer had great insight.
