There's only one thing that pretty, popular TV reporter Nadia Velasquez is her memory from before the explosion that killed everyone else in the room, including the President of Nigeria. But from the moment she meets FBI agent Jon Daniels, all hell breaks loose. Friends turn into deadly enemies overnight, and no one can be truly trusted.
When Jon and Nadia investigate further, they discover the living terror that is the truth behind Nadia's existence, a truth that could mean the death of millions.
Born and raised in lake Michigan's Snow Belt, just south of the Michigan state line. I have a fondness for kids, dogs, and hardwood forests in autumn. In literature, I enjoy military sci-fi and a host of other fun stuff to read, as long as it keeps moving and doesn't lecture me.
This book is an absolute adrenaline rush from start to finish.
From the explosive opening literally the stakes are sky high. Nadia Velasquez surviving the blast that kills everyone else in the room, including the President of Nigeria, instantly sets the tone for a story that refuses to play small. The mystery surrounding why she’s the only survivor hooked me immediately.
Nadia is such a compelling protagonist. On the surface, she’s the polished, confident TV reporter everyone admires. But beneath that is a woman grappling with fractured memory, fear, and the unsettling realization that her very existence may be tied to something far darker than she ever imagined. Watching her slowly uncover the truth while questioning everything and everyone around her kept me glued to the pages.
The chemistry between Nadia and FBI agent Jon Daniels is electric. Their partnership feels authentic: built on urgency, suspicion, and reluctant trust. As allies become enemies and the ground constantly shifts beneath them, their dynamic becomes the emotional anchor in a story packed with twists.
And the twists wow. Just when I thought I had it figured out, the plot took another sharp turn. The conspiracy element is layered and chilling, escalating from personal mystery to global stakes in a way that feels both terrifying and believable. The idea that Nadia’s survival could mean the death of millions adds a pulse pounding urgency that never lets up.
What makes this novel stand out isn’t just the action it’s the psychological tension. The question, “What’s one more little white lie?” echoes throughout the story, blurring the lines between truth and deception in the most compelling way.
If you love high stakes political thrillers, complex heroines, and stories that keep you guessing until the very last page, this one is a must read.
Five stars without hesitation. I couldn’t put it down.
I got this free on Amazon Prime or bookbub. It has a good story line, wasn't predictable. And had some science, though maybe pseudo science lol, to make it interesting.

An author MuseItUp Publishing, Inc., L.J. Holmes, does something she calls cover blogs. The first one I ever saw was the one she did for Becoming NADIA, and it took my breath away. I looked at the cover and KNEW I had to read this book. That was late last year. The book was released in April and I bought it as soon as it came out. At the time, I was busy tweaking my own self-published tome, and while Becoming NADIA was a page turner, I had to force myself to put it down in order to release and promote my own book.
Becoming NADIA was well worth the wait and lived up to every one of the expectations our beloved Cover Goddess, Delilah K. Stephans excited in me with her chilling, masterpiece cover art. The book grips you from the first sentence and takes you on an edge-of-your seat ride that will stay with you long after you read the last page. I will probably go back and read Becoming NADIA again when I am not so busy just to savor the suspense. It is an action story filled with emotion and sci-fi speculation that will leave you asking what if? If you find the cover art chilling—you should. You definitely should.
A Top Notch Action-Thriller. I’ll be very honest. I purchased this book because it recently won the Epic Award for its category (March, 2012) and I wanted to see what the top award winning book was like. Now, I am challenged and you will not be disappointed. A fresh and original, action packed plot that is indeed, a real page turner. In the early chapters, just when you think you’ve got this one figured out, Cyrus Keith turns on the surprises and literally, burns the house down. It’s an exciting adventure, a good romance and an open threat to thrill us with the next book in this series. It seems obligatory in reviews like this to say you’re waiting to see it on the big screen. This one, deserves to be there. Well done, Cyrus, you genuinely earned each and every one of these stars… and that Epic Award, too!
BECOMING NADIA is the debut suspense filled roller coaster ride from one of Muse It Up Publishing's best storytellers, Cyrus Keith.
I am not a fan of roller coaster rides because I like to keep my stomach firmly planted inside me...where it belongs, but now that I have read BECOMING NADIA by brilliant author Cyrus Keith, I have discovered there IS a roller coaster ride I will eagerly climb onto, grab my seat by my clenched hands and wheeeeee through the whole ride.
BECOMING NADIA gives us sci-fi, seat of your pants, nail biting angst, soul-wrenching questions about what makes LIFE, life, and how love can manifest in places you can least expect it.
I am so enamored with Cyrus Keith's story-weaving skills, I am already planning to bury myself as soon as I load UNALIVE the next in Cyrus' NADIA saga onto my Kindle.
A Complex Novel on the Nature of Identity and the Soul
It's difficult to review this fine, complex novel because of the need to avoid spoilers. When asked, I picked "Hopeful" as the word which best describes the mood, but "Suspenseful" and "Thoughtful" might do as well. There's a deadly chase and a love story, but what stands out best for me is Nadia's struggles when it comes to defining her own essence and what it means. The bad guys are bad, yet at the same time, they make a semi-plausible case for why they're morally right. I liked some of the characters too, such as Bunny and the old man. There's a fair amount of science and the author makes Bunny's hacking skills believable. I'd call this a science-fiction near-future thriller. Highly recommended.
Becoming Nadia was a very unique story. The writing was fluid and some parts were so good I had to keep reading. Nadia wakes up with no memory of her previous life. During the story she struggles internally and the supporting characters have their own struggles making the story all the more entertaining. There are a lot of action packed scenes to keep readers interest. It was a great read!
Unusual premise, good story, nice pacing. Characters a little thin except for Nadia.
This is a SF/thriller that makes you think about what can happen when uncompromising people push their vision of Utopia on the world and use technology to do it.05
If there's one thing I have to say about Cyrus Keith is: what an imagination! Who would ever dream up something as original as this? Well-written, and fast moving, this book will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Story about a terrible weapon and the people who stop it from being used. I liked the fact that the action never slowed down and I could not guess what was going to happen next. Great award winning entry in the NADIA project series.
The story was a real surprise for me , it wasn't a typical book that I would pick. But I thought it was a really good story and well written.. I look forward to reading more stories by Cyrus Keith.
What a powerful and excellent plot premise. I enjoyed the read, despite being somewhat difficult in a few spots to accept the character's reactions. A thought provoking novel I won't soon forget.
So far, quite the setup into a srory line that won't end in a dull manner. I am only twenty chapters in and I don't see myself going into another book anytime soon. Well done Mr. Keith!
Great story the characters are great the are very well defined. The storyline is very well crafted. The ideal behind this story it's fitted for humanity from its creation. Great Read for all.
