4 THINGS I LEARNED FROM "POWER ISOMETRICS" BY DAVID NORDMARK

#1) ALEXANDER ZASS, THE FOUNDING FATHER OF ISOMETRIC.

“A world-famous strongman at the beginning of the last century, he was known by his stage name “The Mighty Samson”. He is also considered by many to be the father of isometric exercises”

I don't know if Mr. Zass is the founding father of Isometric exercises knowing that I have read in some books about other people doing the same. Anyhow, this is so inspiring. This piece of information helped me tremendously in recovering from my stroke. From now on, I will be focusing in isometric exercises and it's also convenient.

#2) HOW ALEXANDER ZASS FOUND OUT ABOUT ISOMETRICS

“During World War I, however, Alexander Zass was captured and imprisoned by the Austrians. Confined to a cell and bound by “During World War I, however, Alexander Zass was captured and imprisoned by the Austrians. Confined to a cell and bound by shackles, Zass became despondent. How could he train when he could barely move? He feared that without exercise he would rapidly lose the incredible strength that he had worked so hard to acquire. Out of sheer frustration he began straining against the shackles that bound him and the prison bars that confined him. Without knowing it he began exercising using isometric contraction principles. Much to his surprise he found that this method of training allowed him to become stronger than ever before!"

One thou shall not lose dem gainzz! lol AHAHAHHA

#3) HOW BADASS IS ALEXANDER ZASS

“After the war, Alexander Zass toured Europe performing amazing feats of strength as the “Mighty Samson”. He was known for bending bars, breaking chains with his chest, lifting 500 pound girders with his teeth and carrying small horses. ”

That's friggin badass!! Wow!! What an unbelievable feat of strength.

#4) USING THE MIND AS A POWERFUL TOOL FOR VISUALIZATION

“Rachel Mclish, who was the first Ms. Olympia, stressed the importance of using her mind and imagination to make her muscles larger and more defined. Arnold Schwarzenegger advocated the same thing when it came to efficient muscle building.”

Arnold mentioned about the importance of visualization in sculpting the body of your dreams. I will be doing the same method in strengthening my muscles and nerves while doing the isometric exercises

#5)A STRONGER NECK MEANS BETTER BLOOD FLOW TO THE BRAIN
-A stronger neck means better blood flow to the brains to keep you younger.
-A stronger neck reduces injury, migrains, and headache.
-A stronger neck improves body posture.

#6) A WEL-DEVELOPED TRAPS KEEPS YOUR NECK AND ENHANCE POSTURE.
“A Well developed trapezius muscles will keep your neck strong and enhance your posture by preventing your shoulders from slouching.”

#7)A STRONG BROAD SHOULDER ARE CONSIDERED DESIRABLE FOR WOMEN.
-A strong broad shoulders portrays strenght and power.
-A strong broad shoulder can help you in sports you play.

Love the old school isometric exercises

What's I really like is that no equipment is necessary. Back In the old days body weight exercises got you strong, functionally strong. Somewhere along the line we bought into the "I need every piece of equipment known to exist". Glad we're all wise- ing up. Fitness Independence, all you need is you and your environment. Get after it. Good luck.

"Power Isometrics..." is a good introductory book into the theory and application to Isometrics. The author shows the benefit of Isometrics in terms of body sculpting and building muscle strength in contrast to weightlifting and other strength building exercises. However, the diagrams are very small, unclear and the directions are poorly demonstrated.

A good small volume of isometrics. Covers pretty much all major muscles.

Great workouts when you are stuck in the office and can't even get up from your desk.
