An astrologer's duty―to interpret and communicate what they see on a chart―is no easy task. They must make creative connections, know what to say when, and help their clients deal with life's most pressing issues. Noel Tyl illustrates how astrological measurements―through creative synthesis―can be used to effectively counsel individuals. Concrete examples are provided through the horoscopes of 122 celebrities, historical figures, and private clients. Also includes "quick glance" transit tables and a natal and midpoint solar arc analysis directory.
The case studies are interesting in this book, but it isn't something you want to read from cover to cover unless you are forced to for some certification in astrological counseling. Honestly, there are moments I disagree with Tyl, but he does a good job of addressing a systematic way of doing astrology. However, I often feel a bit put off by books that try to systematize things like astrology or psychology too much, because one thing that is always a constant is that whatever it is you think you know, odds are, you will be presented with something that turns that thing on its head. The art lies in knowing when to suspend all the rules.
Although geared to professional astrologers, it's a "must have" for all students of astrology. It's not something to be read and put on a shelf. Noel talks about sun/mood combinations, solar arcs, and dissecting the natal chart intuitively and not with an astrology "cookbook". It could use a little editing, as it tends to become a little confusing at times, but definitely one for the collection!
Noel Tyl tends to be a bit full of himself on occasion. This book is a fantastic workbook for any intermediate astrologer looking to broaden his/her foundation and tool kit.
